Even happy families have tough times and conflicts from time to time. If they're close they can work it out and get over it, until the next time.
If there's a gap it may remain a problem for a long time.
In the good old days of respecting our elders things were stricter with less "talking" and cuddles. At least that's how I remember it.
It's really all about communication.
