Expect to be heading for Darwin after the Bali trip at the end of March, likely to take a few months. Will be posting my locations regularly and would like to catch up with anyone who will be camping near those areas.

John

Likewise John, I will let you all know where we are at any given time, internet reception permitting of course, and if you are in the area tag along for a while.

I do know that we will be having two weeks in Darwin and we usually stay at Lee Point Van park.  If they still have the same set up, they don't take bookings you just turn up and hope for the best.  We have never had any problems.

Would estimate very late May or early June in Darwin.

PW, good luck with the sale and it's good if you know what you want and are more than half way to being ready.  Hope all goes well and we see you up the track.

I Plan on heading up the center from Adelaide but dont think I will be ready to go till late May early June. Unless the house sells quickly and if it does I am going to in trouble because there is still soooo much I want to get organised before I disapear into the great unknown!

No problem Ps.  You have to get everything stowed away and ship shape BEFORE you head off so you can enjoy your travels without the stress of worrying about what you left behind.

There are any number of us tripping around all through the year so chances are when you are ready to hit the road there will be someone in the area that you intend to head into.

Peacewalker you ever been to Darwin before?

If not, be assured it is God's country, I just loooove it there.

The Other Half tells me we won't be going there this year but all you lot will be so maybe I can coerce him a tad.

Good idea Ma.

I think if we had someone to do that bloody crossing with he would be cool. Its so long and tedious and we are a bit over it. I love the end result both ways, just not that crossing.

Maybe we could have a spot at Camoweal for when you lot come back through? smile

That's true Fly, but I bought a new leather thingy with 9 tails on it the other day so we might not have too much trouble.

Geez!  When I was driving around Darwin and the Suburbs in our hired Car  I was pretending that I had my Toyota Coaster with me...And was looking for camping spots as we do.....None! apart from a couple of disused parking bays from former shopping Centres....My rig was to big...And the City  Forget about it Parking Meters everywhere..Signs all over saying No Camping Heavy Fines will apply some old story.......Even down around the Wharf very strict it's as if they don't want you around.....Caravan Parks  Not for me.....I was looking at it next year...But I'll give it a miss....One needs friends or relatives with a little land to really enjoy it

What we save in free camping on the way up means that we can stay at a van park.

Darwin is a lovely place and I am looking forward to going there again later this year.

Marvelous how we experience things differently isnt it. We didnt like Darwin at all, wont be going back. I lived there for 5 months some years ago, maybe thats where I developed my dislike of the midge-full sticky humid place!
