Sunshine here today in Brisbane with a 35 km/h south westerly blowing. Temp is 22 degrees. Not too unpleasant if a body can get out of the wind. Safely ensconced in the van and on the computer, so all's good.

Sheffield, Tas. Had our first snow for the year (and probably only lot we'll get) on 16th Sept. Temp's. varying 13 - 16 degrees. 5 different kinds of weather in each day, and lots of wind - par for the course at this time of year.
Rain and storms will affect the southern half of WA during the next three days as a low pressure system sweeps across the state.
The low will move towards the south near the state's west coast on Wednesday, causing showers and storms develop over the inland Gascoyne and the state's South West Land Division. The low will also cause blustery winds near the coast as it moves south.
The wet and windy weather will arrive in Perth from the afternoon and continue into the evening, before spreading into the state's far southwest on Thursday morning. As of 11am WST on Wednesday, a severe weather warning was in place for damaging winds gusts in and around Perth during Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
This system is likely to bring rain to all of the state's western and southern districts and parts of the east Pilbara, Goldfields, South Interior and Eucla districts between now and Friday.
Parts of the south coast, wheat belt and Goldfields could receive 5-15mm of rain with the passage of this system, with isolated totals above 20mm likely. This could be the heaviest rain in about 7-8 months for parts of the Goldfields.
Take out there People !!!

As I have told Doug today it is rather cold, wet and windy on Kangaroo Island at the moment as the unseasonal weather keeps bringing up the cooler air from Antarctica so I passed on a joke I heard to wile away the hours until the sunshine returns....So here it is......
'One day three men of GOD decide to go out fishing in a boat. The first was a Methodist Pastor, the second a Church of England Minister and the third was a Catholic Priest. Before long the first decided to stretch his legs, so he stepped out of the boat and walked a few steps, then sat back inside the boat again. The second thought to himself, 'If a Methodist Pastor can walk on water , then so can I.' He too stepped out of the boat, walked up and down the length of it then returned back to his seat inside the boat.
The Catholic Priest, not wanting to be outdone by them stepped out of the boat thinking he too could walk on water. However to the Catholic Priest's surprise he sank straight down to the bottom of the bay. Seeing this the Methodist Pastor turned to the Church of England Minister and said, "do you think we should have told him that the sandbar is on our side of the boat???" Ha! Ha! Ha!
Cheers Gwynnie

I wouldn't like to be crossing the Nullarbor this week, it's going to be rather warm,
the mercury is tipped to reach 43 degrees at Ceduna and 42 degrees at Nullarbor in the state's west. These forecasts are a whopping 16 and 15 degrees above average for this time of year, respectively.
Keep cool People, drink plenty ( water ) travel when it's cooler.

We have gone from cold & wet to 'bloody hot & windy' here on Kangaroo Island. The CFS are extremely busy as we speak helping farmers fight bushfires directly in the path of their properties threatening farmhouses, land & livestock alike.
Friends of mine have just sent through some photos of the bushfires blazing in their back paddocks so we are all banning together. There are 'all hands on deck' saving their sheep as the winds pick up and feed the fire front which will hopefully be stopped in time to rescue all~~. Gwynnie

Thanks for your well wishes KJ. The extreme weather conditions should ease today as a cool change brings relief and maybe a shower or two on KI tonight.
This report posted about 7 hours ago - Fire crews brace for more severe heat as they continue to battle bushfire on Kangaroo Island
The CFS said about 40 local firefighters were still working on the fireground and were being supported by 10 additional fire trucks and 55 firefighters from the mainland. "One hundred firefighters [were] on the ground and we saw some pretty intense fire yesterday as the fire ran through a combination of scrub, grassland and some reasonably old plantation timber," Mr Austin said.

This whats happening here in Innsbruck Austria, the snow started falling about 5pm and then someone checked out the window at midnight and took this photo.
Thanks for a lovely reminder of a white Christmas, Radar. We had one in Ottawa six years ago - it's a completely different life (& a bit chilly)with the bright, sunny days being the coldest. Be careful of black ice!
And it hides the sexes - all look the same from the rear (& front in severe weather) with everyone wearing the same (warm boots, heavy clothing)!
It's a bit different here in Townsville - warm & humid as we prepare to "meet" TC Owen - that came & went, gave us some wonderful rain before heading into the Gulf of Carpentaria & coming back again much stronger than before.

If you don't get it done today, there's always tomorrow!
The cyclone lost strength & is now a glorious rain bearing depression. 96mm of rain yesterday, last night & is still raining. It is now heading southwards but flood warnings are increasing. Over 600mm in the Ingham area yesterday cutting the Bruce Highway both north & south.
Just heard of people who were "sight seeing" & ignored the warnings & having to be rescued from the top of their car. They saw the sights alright - a 3m crocodile swimming past the car!!
