I popped in to Cobb & Co today on my way back from my sisters at Tin Can Bay.

The 1.3kms of dirt/gravel road is good, just a couple of potholes to watch for. The area down towards the lagoon and camp kitchen is pretty soft at the moment. I drove down in my i30 and the road was pretty slushy, but I had no trouble driving on the grass. There was quite a lot of people there as it's a long weekend in Qld, so there'd been quite a few vehicles over it.

But...they have also opened up an area on the higher ground nearer the house and shed, with a brand spanking new amenities block too. Shaun said we may prefer to camp up there.

Shaun said it dries out pretty quickly, so if there's no more rain this week, it should be okay down the back.

.. thanks for the report Beth .. I'll check it out when I get there .. but if it is soft underfoot, I wont stay there. Will camp elsewhere and pop in on a certain day. It is part of a catchment area and its certainly has taken a soaking of late ..

talk soon

Jon

Understandable Jon, we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed that there'll be no more rain this week. So much rain at this time of the year is weird. We can't go by the weather in past years anymore.

I keep watching Weatherzone, but you can't take that as gospel.

Hi folks ..

Norma, Michael and I arrived today at the Cobb & Co Camp Ground ..

Just beautiful ! .. and its drying out nicely ! We found a nice spot on some slightly elevated ground near the new showers and toilet block. Welcomed in by the hosts and settled in now ..

Quite a few family campers here because of the long weekend, but the majority will move out in the next 48 hrs ..

We will be here for 2 weeks thereby meeting most GN's and those that are just dropping in briefly over that period ..

If anyone coming here wishes to empty their cassettes first, then you can do that at the 6 Mile Rest area on the Bruce Highway .. before heading down here.

Jon

I didn't realise you were THAT close when we talked last night Jon!

I'm glad you approve. I forgot about the cassettes, but I did note that there's a laudromat at the Matilda centre on the highway.

Unfortunately I can't get there until tomorrow week, with my procedure being done on Friday.

Don't have too much fun before I arrive! Save some for me! wink

Kiwi-as, I didn't have a shovel with me, not that I would've done it anyway. wink

.. will be good to see you again Beth .. all others have now left, so just us (3) here at the moment.

Probably a little too dirty in the water at the moment for yabbies .. the recent big wets here still are obvious with really muddy lagoons .. had a look at the little shacks dotted around the area .. really nice too .. Pam should be quite comfortable there too ..

Jon

Possibly starting to get too cold for the yabbies but there might be a few fish in the creek with a bit of luck.

Just started making out my list of what to take.  Might need a bigger car.

Don't make lists Jack Mac, just throw it all in.
Seriously, I'm doing the same at the moment. Will be pleased when I get back to one for the van, one for the house, so I don't have to drag it all out to the van again.

I packed food etc in while I was at my sisters last week. I'll just turn on the fridge when I get back to their place on Sunday, and fill it up Monday morning before heading over.

I'd be lost without my lists. I even use the 'to do' in my mobile phone now too.
