That's a happy note to start the year Helena. I expect many of us GNs can relate to that, Thanks for posting.

Family is sooo important. We work hard at keeping our family in touch. Each year we have a family weekend - sharing a house. Yes, it's bedlam (we have 5 kids and some spouses), but we all learn tolerance and keep in touch with each other and the grandchildren. We also work on having an extended family weekend every year (the other end of the year). My husband's mother missed seeing everyone at Christmas so decided we should gather at another time away from Christmas. She is now 93 and unable to go but we still do it with most of the family coming. It's me that gets to organise it though - but it's worth it!

We often don't realise how important family is until they're not there, for many different reasons and when we do need them.

I never thought my family were very close having had very little extended family when I was growing up.

Most of my 10 aunts and uncles lived in England and rarely corresponded.

After a few generations and a now much bigger Australian group we all love to get together a couple of times a year.

My children and their cousins love to get together and catch up, and the next generation also now love seeing their second cousins. It's great to see.

Yes it was great to see him and we did have a great time together we keep in touch by e-mail and phone but not the same as seeing them is it but we are lucky to have the technology to be able to keep in touch with each other. Have a good time with your Mother Glasses it will doyou the world of good hope you are feeling a bit better now Take care, Helena.
