Many, many thanks to Villatranquilla, Ma, and Elle... still sleeping well after a fortnight on the Magnesium. Even the dicomfort of a broken rib hasnt kept me awake. Life just seems so much better when you arent tired. smilesmilesmile

Magnesium is fantastic for easing camping. It won't do your body any harm either.
In spite of taking Panadiene Forte and anti-depressants to help with pain management, I do have trouble sleeping some times.
I make a concious effort to go through the relaxation technique described earlier, combined with the deep breathing, deep inhalation through your nose, and slowly exhale through your lips.
Make sure you're lying flat on your back, hands by your side, tongue lying in the bottom of your mouth before you start.
If you're head won't stop buzzing, take a notepad and pen with you and write down those buzzing thoughts, so they're out of your head, on the paper, and there's no need to keep them buzzing.
I usually don't remember more than 4 breaths.
I do have a hynotherapy CD which chats to me as I go through the routine, and I don't know when it finishes. The walkman ear plugs are removed some time during the night.

Gerty, I have been reading this thread with interest as I also do not sleep well. Would you mind telling me what type of Magnesium you take, I understand that there are various types and doses. A Chiropractor told me to take them years ago and she recommended a certain type/mix? but I can't remember what she recommended. They had no effect on my aches and pains but I would like to try for sleeplessness.

Jaytee I take Natures Own Amino Acid Chelated Magnesium 500mg one a day usually in the mornings as I take them for muscle cramping not for sleeplessness.

Did you also know that magnesium is good for migraine management too,.

The ones I use are Cabot Health brand Magnesium complete.

I take 2 in the evening, not directly before bed though.  I'm finding lately that I sleep through even when I forget to take them, maybe my body has got into the habit now. Thankfully.

Works for some, others may find something else that helps.
