Looking @ buying a nav system, was concidering VMS (told to be wary) also the hema. any thoughts

If you are looking in that price bracket the Vms is a good unit.

If you want to go a bit cheaper you can, but in my experience the cheaper units are not quite as smooth to use as the vms (i.e. a bit slow on button presses etc.)

The early HEMAs were a rebranded VMS. Failures cost HEMA a lot of money, so they developed their own.

I use a later model HEMA.
