The Asthma's pretty much under control Jimbo, but I've had a very painful knee for several weeks now. Because of my UC I can't take anti-inflamatories so when it gets too bad, I take a Paracetamol/Codeine tablet. I have a doctors appt next week, so I'm hoping she comes up with some wonderful solution.

Of course, it would help if I lost some weight...hmm

Beth i have severe arthritis in both my shoulders and cannot take anti inflamatories either, the only relief I can get is cortisone injections in them.......they are magic and am completely pain free but they only last about 6 weeks and they won't let me have anymore than 2 a year, but those 6 weeks are great.smilesmilesmile

Pauline, an old mate of Dad's used to have them in his shoulder too. He was a POW in Changi, so the problem was caused by the beatings he copped. Poor old fella only died last year...lived to a very good age, all things considered.

When I was in my local shopping centre today, I got a demo of a tens machine Pauline. If you haven't heard of it, it's a little electronic thingy, that sends little pulses. My sister has one, so I knew it could be helpful. It's too exxy for me at $180, but I thought I'd hav e a look on ebay. It certainly helped for awhile. Apparently if you use it every day, it relieves the pain...I guess depending on what the problem is.

Seen those in the shopping centres Beth, I have the same sort of machine for years now, I think they are very good for say a pinched nerve or maybe a strained muscle but as far as my shoulders go........cortisone injections are the only thing that work...........Wish I was able to inject myself as needed but they say it destroys the tendons if I have it more then twice a year.

Yeh, I suspected it wouldn't be enough for you. I understand your pain though Pauline. My late m-i-l was in an awful state with hers.
