The Richmond club is still giving GNs three free nights in their c/van park just across the road from the club. I was there last year and can reckonend the facilitys. Its a 1.5 hr train journey from Sydney, but it was only$8.50 last year.Ring them on 0245781144 before arriving as they only have 10 powered sites. I think there is a small charge for the power. Meals, and entertainment wer great when I was there.See you there in Feb.Bill
We stayed at the Richmond Club campsite on January 4, we had to join the club ($4) and paid $10 for a powered site - there were two bathrooms with a toilet, shower and basin in each. Quite location away from the street overlooking vacant land. We weren't offered any free nights!!
The free nights don,t include power.I found the club great with cheap meals, and close to town and good to explore Sydney. Its also out of the traffic. Bill
Just stopped at Richmond twice. Going north we were too late for a powered site but still comfortable. Coming south, we got there earlier and got a powered site for 2 nights - $10/night. One couple were misinformed though - from overseas - they arrived in a hire car with a tent and expected to be able to stay then travel into the city the next night. Management allowed them to pitch the tent but they had to be out by 7am - it is not for camping.
There is more info here: http://www.caravancaravan.com.au/entity/wanderest-travellers-park/nsw While you are checking in, pick up one of our cards from the counter.
I've recently stayed here, but didn't look it up on here first, only going by CAW #6 which has no price on it, and their website which says it's FREE! I'm not opposed to paying, but I am opposed to false advertising. Both CAW and the club have been informed, so hopefully it'll be fixed sooner rather than later.
We HAD to join the club, $4, which may be a bit of a lurk, as it falsy boosts their membership numbers. ??? But they do have excellant meals and it's a very busy place.
WE paid $10 for powered site on bitumen. They don't want backpackers with tents, although there were a few whiz bangs. But they didn't use power so were well away from us.

Beth the whizzbangs frequent Richmond Wanderest as they pick up their whizzbang locally and are given the CAW book and must be pointed in that direction. We have seen them there just starting out and also the night before they return their whizzbang - cleaning everything out before they take it back. Some even hung their washing on lines across the step handrails!! We have stayed there with power and without power. It is so well lit you don't need power really. You were lucky they have just de-commissioned the Hercules airplanes that used to take off from the airport and fly just above the park. The only time it is hard to get into Wanderest is when the Sydney Caravan and Camping Show is on in April. Then it is packed out as it is so handy to station. You can even get put in the car park at that time of year. Hopefully they will soon start the extensions.

The planes were awesome! They were so low, so loud and so big! No idea what sort they were but they certainly looked huge that close!
They didn't fly at night so didn't bother us. I took a video of one landing.
