It's Chemo time, bring on the drugs!

Start first round of chemo this wednesday as lung op had good result, 3 days then a spell until bloods are right. Best part is I don't have to be admitted this time around, only day centre, no hospital food or bad nights to put up with, hoorah! Three months will go pretty quick I hope, but been there before so know what to expect.

regards

jimsiron

I hope it all goes well for you Jim - my brother starts chemo on Monday - diagnosed three weeks ago with bowel cancer, sent for MRI, found had gone to lymph nodes - got results last Wednesday, so they are moving pretty fast I feel, hope all is well for him too.

Your positive attitude will get you through the treatment. Especially if you can sleep in your own bed at home. Somehow I always think that helps the patient cope.
I get the impression the cancer cure is worse than the disease.

Had 2 days of treatment so far, mostly ok except for lack of sleep due to hormone drug on day 1.
I am now having a stem cell transplant in January from my previously harvested cells 5 years ago.
regards and thanks for all your kind words.

G'day Jim, I just want to wish you all the very best during the course of your treatment, both the chemo and stem cell treatment, .......at 63 I was deemed "too old"! The medico's must consider you a good chance to contemplate the stem cell hey! Stay fit and well mate.

Cheers,

ozi2,

Finished first cycle today, feeling pretty good. Nurse fixed my sleep problem with a little white pill, I want more, they are bloody good for insomnia! Now I have to wait and see how blood counts and temperature fairs. If like the last time I can see trips in for transfusions, platelets and temp spikes, ahh the joy of it all. But I will get over it and the van awaits for us to get out and about.
Next cycle is 20-22 dec, great xmas again.
regards
Jimsiron

Good to hear you are feeling ok. Hope it continues to go well. And yes the little pills are great for sleep but not for too long.

Hi Jim.

all the best with your treatment,

I started my chemo april 2011 had to go to perth every three weeks for the iv treatment lasted six months in between the three weeks twice i had to go for

blood transfuison and ct scans and x rays,

now i am on tablets to control the cancer.

The little white tablets i sometime take to help with sleep are great.

All the best

Regards Dave
