Does it matter whether it (the napisan) is granules or liquid that is used in the loo?

waggy 21 - welcome to the site - haven't seen the napisan as a liquid, unless it is the name brand NAPI SAN - we are talking about the generic or home brand nappy soakers - the reason they work is because they have sodium percobonate in them - this product oxygenates the bacteria in the faeces in the loo, breaking them down - that is the job of the bacteria. It will help loo paper disintegrate as well, so you are left with a sludgy stuff to empty out into a dump point.

I would think that vinegar, being acidic, might harm the bacteria, preventing it from doing its job.

Remember - HOME BRAND OR GENERIC NAPPY SOAKER - the cheaper ones seem to have a higher level of sodium percobonate.

Thanks Jules for both the welcome and the info, we have the Vanish napisan liquid but I think it best if we get the generic nappy soaker like the multitude of nomads have recomended.

I inherited one when I bought the Transit, it had water in the flush tank with chemical deodoriser in it. The other holding tank was empty.

Reading the instructions for it, said to store empty, but leave the slide out (between the pan and the collecting tank otherwise they can get stuck in storage) I emptied the chemicals and put generic in both tanks with water, left for a couple of days and then emptied it out and allowed to dry. I then pulled the slide out as per the instructions and lubed the moving parts and slide with silicone spray and now have stored it empty with the slide out.
