I just went back for another look, Lynda said Vinegar instead of chemicals, would have to be on the inside wouldn 't it?
Still don't know who this Lynda is, she has got us all beat what with hose bags now on my list to buy on Monday and now Vinegar for the toilet. Lynda has some great ideas. Own up Lynda, who are you?
Gotto agree Marj, she's got us whacked!! we're all off to buy hose and electric lead bags, and now extra vinegar !! hahaha. I'd say it would be instead of chemicals. Can only but try !!
speaking of hose bags I just roll mine up into one of those eco bags from the super market and I bought a thingy from a cheap shop $2 to roll my elec lead on. Vinegar smells as bad as pee.

Woolies home brand Napisan works well in the toilet and is as cheap as.

Thats what I use, napisan, and a few drops of Eucalyptus Oil which has a much nicer smell that vinegar.
thankyou. i thought we always had to use chemicals. how much napisan do we put in or how do you do it? thanks.
I dissolve two caps of Napisan in one litre of water and then add a few drops of Eucalyptus oil for a fresh fragrance and add the whole lot to the bottom tank. I also add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the 20 litre top tank and I spray all the seals with Olive Oil to keep them moist, I also spray a little olive Oil around the bowl as it helps to prevent marks sticking when used.

Whoops!!! Napisan and Eucalyptus Oil, have a much nicer smell than vinegar.
Don't be confused with the brand name napisan....use only the generic nappy soaker, either Woolies or Coles brand as they have the highest (34%) sodium percarbonate (active ingredient) content and of course definitely a lot cheaper.
The 3kg Woolies is $8.99 from memory and lasts quite a long time.
Is Lynda our firefighting lady? She hasn't been here for a while. Could be travelling.
Chris - I wrote to Firefly a week or so ago saying she was missed - she has been very busy and hasn't been able to do much more than have a quick read every now and then.

I don't have a porta loo but have a 20ltr bucket with toilet seat and lid fitted and just put about 50mm water in the bottom and a splash of home brand bleach, I hope that's not a no no? I usually sparay glen 20 around the inside and seat after cleaning it out. But it does seem to work. I like the Napi San (or no name brand) and eucalyptus oil though. I might try eucalyptus oil in the bucket instead of glen 20.

I used the name Napisan just as a type but actually use the homebrand ones. Whether it is Woolworths or Aldi at only 2-3 dollars, they all work just as well.

Sorry folks I should have been more specific, it is definitely Woolies generic or Coles home brand Napisan not, I repeat not the branded product, the Home Brand products work much better.

thankyou very much. this certainly will be much cheaper. One thing though - the top 20 litre tank. We usually use a chemical so are you saying add a little eucalyptus to 20 litres water? thanks and have a great week.
