Paradise Dam- Unpowered Sites, Concrete Boat Ramp, Environmentally friendly Toilets, Covered Gas BBQ's and Picnic Shelters, Disabled Access, Drinking Water (Limited Supply),Fish Cleaning Facilities

Bradley Wolf Braeve Heart retreat near Agnes Water $5.50 /night pp No power

Wongi State Forest Park near Maryborough $5.30/night, no fires. Booking at least six weeks in advance. The grounds also contain powered camping sites, with hot showers provided.

Kenniworth Showground - powered camping sites, with hot showers provided, powered sites are $14 per night per site (including GST).For sites using two power outlets an additional $3 per site per night, Caravans, caravan clubs, tent campers are all welcome.

St Lawrence free camp with really good amenities.

Cobb & Co Nine Mile Campgrounds. #159 in CAW 6.$10 per person per night

Excluded

Oakey Creek Reserve -too far south / too cold
Leyburn.-too far south / too cold
Kenilworth = cold.
Inskip Point- limited sites suitable for access with 2WD vehicles, small caravans and camper trailers.
Workmans Beach Camping Area- Only suitable for small vehicles not caravans,

Elanda Point Canoe Company.=not pet friendly

Think there might be a couple more on the list Rosie.....my gosh you have done and brilliant job of keeping this list.

Think Boynedale Bush camp CAW6 #107 might also in the running as well and possibly more.

You can scrap Kenilworth Rosie, it'll be b.loody freezing at night there.

And St Lawrence is too far north...distance/moneywise.

I forgot about Elanda Point being non pet friendly.

I think Wongi State Forest Park might be a non starter.

Booking at least six weeks in advance is a big ask for lots of folk, who need to have a bit more flexibility. What do you think?

Probably, I thought also of Amamoor SF but can't see where I posted it

You might want to throw Amamoor State Forest into the mix as well.

Cobb and Co. No.9 looks lovely, but is not far north of the border. Won't be too warm.

Isn't Amamoor going to be too cold for some as well - have stayed at Cedar Grove - has toilets and cold showers - and heaps of bush turkeys. I liked the area.

We have quite a list now, and while Travelbug and Beth have committed to check some of them out, I don't think its fair to expect them to check all of them, and we need to whittle it down to just one definite spot.

If anyone has any further places to add to the mix, I think we need more than a place name and a Camp6 number. Photos would be good, enough details from the web or personal contact that will enable us to make a decision on the forum.

We are looking for :-

Queensland- see map for areas 7,8 ot 14
June
free or low cost
water to look at (coast, creek, lake or river)
dog friendly
easy access - short gravel road ok
water (at least for washing)
accommodates large vans

Amamoor would be too cold.

Even though Cobb & Co is more southerly, it is more towards the coast, which is always warmer than inland.

We may have to scrap Boynedale...

a/ access road sounds a bit iffy if it's been raining.

b/ need to be totally self sufficient, and it sounds like some nomads are not.

These are the places Pam & I will check out in January...

1/ Cobb & Co.

2/ Paradise Dam.

3/ Wongi SF.

I have been consulting with my sister and hubby, as they are very knowledgable. Particularly in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

Even though it seems we'll scrap Wongi, I want to have a look anyway for my own knowledge. It's not that far from my sisters anyway.

There are several camps that I haven't mentioned because there's a time limit on your stay. eg: Calliope River Rest Area sounds lovely, but there's a 48 hour limit on it. 48 hours may suit some people, but not others.

Can some one make a decision!A camel is a horse designed by a commitee! I will go anywhere you think is alright. The pardise dam sounds nice as I am a fisherperson(being politicaly correct). It would be nice to meet some more GNS. Bill

Its not till next June Bill, There is plenty of time, and as happened with Greens Lake could be changed at the last minute.
Who knows what other suggestions will come up in the new year.
I will just wait till the decision in made and turn up.

i think we should avoid last minute changes by getting the best fit destination.

As time is not a factor right now - we have till June- we can work through lots of suggestions, one of which is now Bill's preference for a fishing spot.

We are now looking for :-

Queensland- see map for areas 7,8 or14
June
free or low cost
water to fish in (coast, creek, lake or river)
dog friendly
easy access - short gravel road ok
water (at least for washing)
accommodates large vans

I for one am enjoying the conversations around planning this get together, and sometimes the "journey" is the best part.

If anyone is desperate for a decision right now, please speak up.

No I am not desperate for a decision right noe. next May will do for me.
Must say though and Jonathan will confirm, the last minute change can be the best decision made as Jonathan found when he came across Greens Lake that I had never even heard of.
I will sit back and watch with anticipation.
