Calliope River rest area


If you turn off 2 k's south of river you can get over the other side, it's worth doing as you can be right beside the river only toilets there though but 48 hrs free can have a fire and pretty quiet too. Camp 105 in tha biblewink

 Love that spot...we stayed there on our way north in July.

Hi, where exactly is the Calliope River?  The only Calliope I know is a town in Qld.

 Probably the same place DL, it is near Gladstone in Qld on the Bruce Highway.

One of the best spots around Not far from shops and beach 19 kl East....I loved it spent many a night there a couple of years ago They have a huge Market sometimes as well....At the old homestead at top of the hill

 That is it - sorry I didn't make that clearsmile the markets are fantastic I think it was a Sunday. I did try to post a pickie but I can't get it to work for some reason???

there is toilets on the other side as well but you have to climb the hill or find the track to drive up to them
