ALDI TV?

ald_prod_j00516522_c_001_r01_017_PFT.jpgCan anyone tell me if this TV is the right type for my caravan?

Ignore the other items, I couldn't seem to isolate the TV ad only.

The ad says it comes with a ciggie lighter attachment.

Why do you need a ciggy lighter on your TV?
Seriously though, if it has a ciggy lighter lead that it runs off, then it is 12V so should be no worries.

Yes Beth, it comes with a 12 v option so is fine. I put this up on the forum a few days ago when I got my catalogue, but can't afford to get myself one at the moment so will be interested to hear how it goes. They do have good warranty at Aldi so keep your docket. My neighbour bought her washing machine from there and when it had a problem they arranged for it to be fixed very quickly.

Oh okay. Yes, I was iffy about spending the money, but my friend reckoned at that price, i should go for it.

I got my camp fridge from Aldi, and it's been fine, but I have to take my navigator back..it stopped working. hmm

Here's the website with the details.....http://aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_19591.htm?WT.mc_id=2011-10-31-02-14

It doesn't include a built in DVD player but any modern DVD player should be easy to connect without any dramas.

Thanks Jim. I knew there must have been a better way to do it. Yes,I did notice there was no inbulit DVD player.

If you want to buy it Beth, get there early on the day! Some of those specials sell out very quickly

Yes, so I've heard Dave. It starts on Saturday..I generally avoid going to the Hyperdome on the weekend, but I guess it'll be early, so shouldn't be too busy.

I'm saving up for a Kogan with all the bells and whistles which I can get for around $150 on special - it has lots of things I've never heard of and includes capacity to plug in ipods and cameras and laptops as well as a dvd. But the Aldi one seems like a fantastic bargain. We don't have Aldi in WA, just a diminishing series of independent stores that get swallowed up by the nasties.

Lot's of people I know have bought Aldi products..other than food..and been very happy with them.

This seemed to be the right type of Tv for 12v, I just felt I had to check with my nomad friends. Having no inbuilt DVD is dissapointing, but I'm not too concerned about that.

Thanks for the imput guys and gals.

Beth, If you want one with built in DVD you would be better to bid on one on Ebay. They are from Kogan Direct and a 16 inch usually ends around the 70.00 mark and postage is 34.90. Still only around 100.00.
I went into Dick Smith here last week and asked what did they have at 16 inch or under. They couldn't show me one at all.

Oh, okay. Maybe I should do that. I still have to buy tyres for the caravan this week, and pay someone to put the new springs in the car, so enough expense at the moment. I wasn't planning on getting a TV just yet, but at that price...yeh, I think I just talked myself out of it. Thanks Marj.

The built in DVD player is a big advantage for those of us with small rigs and limited space.

I got the GPS too, but it stopped working so took it back the other day and they exchaned it no problems. Of course, I'd kept my receipt.

Hi all Jon99w here

All I have is my pc and an external drive with about 450 (archive copies??) of movies on it, that my son gave me recently. If I want to watch a movie I simply start up my PC and connect the ext drive and select a movie, no problems. I generally pick up on the news while fratanising with the locals when I get thirsty.

I also use the PC to get news and weather updates, so I don't need a TV

Cheers

John........(currently in Mildura)

Now that's a good idea Jon. My brother has heaps of movies and TV series on his external hard drive. I might look into that. Thanks.

We just purchased a Kogan 22" led with built in dvd player for $199,we found that the 15" we had was just too small for viewing for our m/home.The Kogan is brilliant,we also paid for the extra 3 yr warranty $38. Hope this helps in your choice.
