I bought mine today, picked it up on my way home from Greens Lake. It is called a Powertech Plus (from Jaycar). Automatic Universal Laptop Power Supply for car use. 90 W and cost 59.95. 16 DC connectors included.

Identical to mine, Marj. If you have any concerns about selecting the correct plug I feel sure the guys/gals at your local Jaycar will help.

Yes maybe... but.. an inverter is probably more versatile for running different equipment, or different chargers etc.

Mine runs 4 different camera battery chargers, 2 diffent laptops, a TV a soldering iron, an angle grinder.. hmmm... and anything else that has a standard 240V plug and doesn't dissipate more than about 600W.

The original Post here was relevant to Laptops only troopy, not everything else you want to run as well.

Cheers,

Sheba.

My summary was made in that context, that is for those deciding between a power supply or a PSW inverter to power the laptop.

If one has a need to power multiple devices and the additional power consumption is not an issue the inverter option could prove to be a better way to go as in Troopy's case.

This one I bought today is only for Laptops, nothing else so you really need an inverter for other things.
I also bought a cig lighter connection to the in house battery, just has the battery clips on the other end of the cable. Just in case I want to use this and not the inverter if camped for several days.

If it's like mine, [different Brand though,] the Instructions will tell you which one to use for a 19V. Lap-top.

Cheers,

Sheba.
