I am about to head off on my virgin solo adventure next week. Planning to visit B/Hill via cobar from Syd then off too Cooper Pedy and north to the Olgas and Uluru.
Probally then head back down thru SA to the Bight and across to SA
I have a near new Nissan Xtrail diesel and a camper trailer etc. Looking for lots of friends along the way!!
I am not sure where I will end up......Or indeed where I am going but I DO know that I will enjoy every minute!!!
Hey John welcome. There are some great people on this forum. I guess that you really meant you will be heading across to WA rather than SA after the bight? Sounds like you have some great trips planned. Heading south through Esperance is a great way to experience WA as you will see from various posts. Cheers Ellen
Welcome to the forum John, if you haven't already type Broken Hill in this forums Search, lots of good info there (Silverton Etc).
Cobar has one of the nicest caravan parks I've been to and not expensive from memory.
There are also a couple of free camps between Cobar and Broken Hill, also one going east from BH. All in Camps 6 (Camps Australia Wide) or earlier versions.

No it was Billeee I am far too organized, wish I could be more flexible but at the moment I have an overall plan and am trying to be slower. I want to start over the top in May and that is a long time away.
That slow down thing eventually kicks in. You get all excited to prepare the vehicle and plan the trip. You turn out of the driveway and point in selected direction and you pound the highway to get to that first destination. You're in such a hurry you barely give yourself time to fuel up and have lunch and a cuppa. Then it's off as fast at your tug will carry you to the destination of your choice. What did you see today? Where did you stop today? Did you enjoy your day? Don't know? But the parking spot is nice. Travel is about looking around - "Rubber Necking". Look AND see the country as it slides by you. Stop for a closer look. You have time. There's no rush. If you don't get there today you'll get there tomorrow. You're a nomad now.

You are counting! And good for you. It's on my to-do list. Maybe when I retire next time. I think we have this compulsion to go somewhere and do something every day, like when we were on holidays during our working years, so we didn't waste time. Instead I try to have a day or 2 just sitting around the camp/park, checking out where I am, then looking around the district a bit further. We need to look around more slowly. Take in where we are. Get a feel for the district, town or beach. Meet the folk. Life is one long holiday now.

Like the rest have said ... head off, enjoy, try to get into the 'slow down' mode as soon as you can ... it will happen .. thankfully I actually 'plan' to spend minimum time 'moving on' and maximum time 'absorbing'.
And be prepared for very hot weather around Coober Pedy/Uluru/Kata Juta etc from now on. Temps will be in the 40s soon.
