I emailed Endeavour R escape, and its $25 for unpowered site, a bit expensive for my liking. I will free camp on the banks of the Annan R , for nothing. Good fishing , too. You have got the have a drink at the famous, Lions Den Hotel, its a classic! Beaut camping out the back with a cool swimming hole, and no crocs.Might see you there , next week.Bill

Many years ago we camped on the northern side of the river. It was only an overnight stop, and we didn't go near the river.

Yes it is. I visited during Toowoomba Garden Show. It was just beautiful.

Walker Bay on the mouth of the Annan River....it isn't an official camping area but we camped there for about 4 days, we just had a tent but there was a couple of other campers there.. a caravan and a campervan, the road in runs alongside the Cooktown golf course and is quite narrow and is soft sand in places(we had a 4WD but only used 4WD in one spot). It is a beautiful peaceful spot....unfortunately we lost all the photos of this camp or would have put some up. No facilities at all..not even a tap but well worth it if you can get there....I wish I was there right this minute!!
