GN FACTOR RULZ ..

Now .. lets diagnose the GN Factor ..

I just love to sing .. a lot of my friends love to sing .. I believe I have the GN Factor !!

Do you enjoy singing ? .. but you dont think you can sing with others because you think they sound better than you and you stick to singing in the shower or when you know you're totally on your own ?

Been there, done that and still do it to a certain extent !

Lets make the GN Factor one where we can get together as the happy group we are, and if you wanna sing .. you do it !

Its not about our capacity to sing in key .. or our own choice of music ! Its about us allowing ourselves to sing.

Its very difficult to find someone thats singing who is unhappy. Sure, I love Country Music and Oldies tunes, and you'll find a great number of those songs are sorrowful and almost depressive .. but I know if I like a particular song, there's a real 'free' feeling if you know you can just belt it out without concern of who's listening and what their opinion might be ..

I believe the GN FACTOR is being able to freely express our joys and yes, our sorrows .. but I prefer to share the joys and give others the same opportunity to express theirs.

so, good people .. when the opportunity arises for a bit of a singsong or Karaoke, I like to see all enjoy themselves as the GN FACTOR provides a level playing field .. and thats a good way to share ..

food for thought !

Jon

That's exactly what we do Jon, at any given opportunity.  We sing along to the CD's while we are travelling and I must admit we get some funny looks sometimes, but who cares, we are enjoying ourselves and that's what really matters when it's all boiled down.

I don't think my effort would be classed as singing, but at least it keeps me amused blehbleh

Hi Jon....I must have the GN FACTOR too....smile

I don't claim to be a great singer, but I can carry a tune, and I love to sing.
I sing in the car...when I'm alone...with others...Karaoke...anytime at all...
I couldn't imagine my life without music in it!

p.s. Please sign me up as a lifetime member of the "GN FACTOR CHOIR"  biggrin biggrin

Cheers...and keep on singing!!

Me too, love to sing, can't hold a tune but who cares (only our next door neighbour), poor bugger had to put up with a bunch of us on Sunday after a very looong barbie,
oh well we just invited him over and all was good.

Cheers

I had a feeling there'd be a few about that think along the same lines ..

Speaking of Choirs Pam, I did join the Sing-Australia group to further my experience .. but I found that I'm just not cut out to be a choir member .. I know that CG is also a member so lets hope she did benefit more from the group than I did. As there are many groups about and all with different concepts, I might catch up with another one before my membership expires to see if they suit me better ..

I cant read music and when told to go sit with the baritones .. and then had to sing in Italian (I have trouble in English) .. well .. sort of lost interest there ..

All good fun .. life is full of variety ..

Jon

Fantastic, but i don't think the headache on monday was entirely caused by all the singing though.

.. apparently, one of the benefits of a headache is that it stops you from recalling all of the events of the nght before ..

Strewth ! .. I have trouble doing that anyway !

Gotta agree with you there Jon. I love singing to the CDs when I am travelling. Always makes me feel so much happier. That means I must have GN FACTOR too. It does instantly brighten the mood when listening to the golden oldies.

We love to sing along to songs in the car too and when home with the radio on - can't sing to save myself but makes me feel good. My daughter was singing along in her car the other day with her 15 month old daughter when the little one said "mum shhhhh" and put her finger to her mouth. Very cute

OOooh Sue .. Its probably a good idea to leave sporting politics out of it .. eh ! Besides, I know very little about ping pong so I'll stay out of it .. hehe !

.. and Pauline .. I'm glad you remember all the words .. I find myself fudging my way through many old and familiar tunes .. but still manage to get through 'em ..

Yep, I love to sing too. My voice is not too bad, but it certainly 'ain't' what it used to be! And I don't give a damn!

Jon, remember my friend you met at Mareeba? She's involved in the theatre in Malanda. A couple of years ago I went up for a musical they put on to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the theatre. It was set in the 20's with all that great old music. It was so much fun...and I was only in the audience!

Sing, sing, sing! You don't have to be good at it, just sing.
That roughly summarises the Sing Australia philosophy.
I have come across a few groups, or should I say, group leaders who take their responsibilities and duties seriously, to an offensive and foreboding degree. Sing Aus prefers to be called groups these days, rather than choirs, but some still hang on to the formal choir format.
I'm currently a member of the Gawler group. I spent much of my school days in some choir or other, and I learnt a lot from some very talented musicians and musical directors or choir masters. I'm no star but I can hold a note with a bit of clever breath control.
We have a very talented group at Gawler. If ever you're cruising through SA contact me and I'll drag you along, for the cuppa and biscuits, oh, and to meet some new, nice people at the very least.
I reckon it's compulsory to sing as your drive and travel. I hum in the loo, sing in the shower, and get some funny looks in the park, but I don't care. If the look gets too intense I whistle. Not good for the wrinkle development around the mouth, but like a smile, it indicates I'm a whistler who smiles a lot.
Even when I'm on the wide load escort job the music hums along quietly over the 2-way radio.
I think you're on to something here Jon.

CG. You gave me a laugh there, funny looks in the park. I've had the same in the supermarket. A song I know comes on the radio and I start singing (softly) to it. Comments too. "You are a happy soul aren't you?"

My grandkids look at me as if it's "here Nanna goes again". Having been a primary school teacher, assistant for a Calisthenics college and being brought up going to the stage musicals of 1960s and 70s, a tend to have a song for most situations.
I can't push a swing without singing 'the swinging song'. Can't walk back from fishing without ' I went fishing', and so it goes.

Was standing in the autumn leaves when I broke out with 'Autumn leaves are now falling, red, yellow and brown'. The happy group of campers standing with me at the time started learning the words. Next day, a young couple, camped opposite arrived with all the 'correct' words written out for me. He had researched it on the internet.
(I still sing my own words :] )

I do a bit of a song and skip with the trolley if it's a song I like to sing along too.
When I was a kid I wanted to learn to play the piano my grandparents had. They sold it to another relative.
So I used to sit very close to the wireless which was a piece of furniture in those days, and sang everything, word for word.
And although the voice is a little older, I still sing. No one can stop me doing that, and it's good for the soul.
So let's have more singing fellow nomads! More singing!
