RE: Confirming Greens Lake

Yep Jonathan. In the right frame of mind now and can't wait to get out there again. Thinking of going over to Cobram as well and trying their beaches on the Murray, perhaps the week after.

Good for you Marj! Happy travels.

I'm sorry to say that I won't be coming down after all. After discussing with Jonathan...not that he talked me out of it...just made me aware of the distance/time factor...I decided it may be too much for me with the new/old van first time out. I'll just do a few short trips for awhile.

But, I will be down sometime next year, as previously planned.

Sorry to hear that Beth. it is quite a distance and you have to give it plenty of time. I take 3 days in a car but allow a week in the van each way.
Will see you up there next winter anyway.

Yes, when I thought about it, if I'm going to drive that distance, I want to spend plenty of time exploring. Yes, next winter. wink

Hi Beth, Sorry to miss you again. It took me three days to come down the pacific highway to Canberra. I did spend a lazy afternoon in Nelson Bay. Travelled at about 90kpms most of the time. I like to only do about max of 400 per day. The leg from Nelson Bay to Canberra was a bit of a stretch. Had a nana nap just after I went through Sydney for a couple of hours though. Thats the good thing about having you bed with you. lol.

Yes ChiChi, that's what I'll enjoy about having the van now. And when I stop for lunch in bad weather, I can get in the van to shelter. I'm looking forward to it.

I worked it out to be around 1500km from my place to Greens Lake and with only 16 days to work with, I wouldn't have much time to actually be there.

Never mind, there'll be other times to meet more nomads!

Sorry we won't meet you Beth.
It is a long way!
We are near Newcastle, and will take 3 or 4 days to wander down.
Perhaps next year we can meet you half way and wander down together.

Maybe we can have another get together up that way sometime heading into winter when its warmer up there than down here. I will be in on that. Maybe at one of the many dams around Qld.

Definitely! I think Jules mentioned that too.

Southeners seem to head more northerly or west of SEQ, so we can choose accordingly...more or less on the way. Maybe a little west of Toowoomba.

Gonna be the best gathering ever at this stage - must remember to pack the red!!! and the vodka - both for medicinal purposes only, though Norma just laughs at me when I espouse these theories!!!!

Just interested Marj, but do you have a rough idea of how many will be coming?

Wish I could be there too, maybe next time.

Ma, I think the count is up to about 18 to 20 at this time.
Some who said they are coming may not eg. I can't see yeoeleven coming back from the west etc.
A couple will just come for the day over the weekend.

Yes it is and yes they are Jon.   Did you mention that we had been discussing it here on the forum?

I told them I would put it up but they didn't seem as if they believed me all that much.

They had had a few people who had said the same thing and I guess nothing ever came of it.

I think I might send them an email.
