Fixin solar to the roof

Hi I was just wondering what the best way would be to fix a solar panel to the roof of our coaster... it arrived today.. I was looking at eBay for solar mounts.. they have some that have no screws... but they dont say how you fix them up there. A little advice would be much appreciated :)

thanx

There are many ways it can be done BUT be sure to have air flow under the panel to stop over heating as this can reduce the output of the panel.

Hi guys, I believe that Jay Car sell mounting kits for sola panels. Not sure of the price but should not be too expensive. One way to fix them is by using a product called " Sticka flex. I saw it in Bunnings the other day Hope that helps Briche

I used sikaflex (make sure whatever sealant/bond you use is nuetral cure, some are acidic), made some simple angle aliminum angle and used sikaflex and tech screws. These mounts are 150mm long and spaced about 300mm apart. A miniumun of 10 mm air gap

Sikaflex is a good way to glue them on. Get some angle bracket and glue that in place, then bolt the panels to it so they can be removed.

Make sure the sikaflex glues to something strong. I have seen vans where the panels have been glued to paint that has just peeled off with wind loading.

Cheers,
Nichol
