kalgoorlie to Cue

Well we are out of the Mukinbudin caravan park on 29th and heading to Milly Milly station, 250k nw of Cue. we are going via Kalgoorlie Lienster, sandstone and Mt magnet. can anyone suggest good camps or van parks along the way? We also need to leave our van unattended but not on power for a week at mt. magnet or cue, any suggestions? It is already starting to feel good just knowing we are about to be on the road again!!smile.gif

I can only speak for Mt Magnet, the last time I was there it only had the council caravan park in the main street, not all that secure though as only a knee high fence between it and the main road. Was ok for a night, but not sure of longer, pretty old ablutions when I was there, with a caretaker on site collecting fees etc.

I wonder if the local police would let you park it in their yard for a bit of security?

It is 3 years since I've been through that way, and recent mines opening up may have affected van park quality, but we found the CP at Leonora ok for an overnight. There was a surprisingly good CP at Sandstone.

Mt Magnet Caravan Park isn't too bad but if you go through Sandstone then take the drive out of town & check out London Bridge Arch it's well worth it.

Cheers

Don't know what the parks etc are like but our son used to be at Berringarra next door to Milly. (think it is now part of Milly) We spent quite a bit of time up there.Loved it .Some spectaclular scenery and the boys even caught Bream in the Murchison. Definitely a big change from Mukka.

Hi there

I stayed at the Mount Magnet one in July last year and it had just been taken over by new owners who were keeping the place spotless. Had new stainless steel BBQ's and I thought it very nice. Have a great trip!

Cue has a council run park opposite the police station, ols toilets but secure, and the pub does a great meal.

Check out Niagra Dam (camps 4 No 342), Malcom Dam (No343) - also has a dump point, Peter Denny Lookout (betwene Sandstone and Leinster), cheap C/P at Leinster and you can eat at the mining mess for $15 smorgesboard and free washing machines. Lake Nallan 20k's nth of Cue, also take time to visit Gwalia - very interesting deserted gold mining town just out of Leonora. We were there August last year - great country- good campfires and met some lovely people - enjoy the trip

Lake Nallan was closed last year because of the mess being left by traveller's, has it been opened again?
