Finally prised myself away from Darwin after spending two weeks there, Really loved it. Have to return next year for longer and earlier before the build up starts. Getting very sticky when I left. Had a lovely day at Litchfield National Park, beautiful waterfalls and creeks. Didn't stay the night as I think half of Darwin was there today! Presently at Adelaide River and heading south. Hi Justjo, we lived in Darwin for 17 months a great place but definately different. If you are in Adelaide River did you visit the War Cemetary, just a beautiful serene place and so well looked after.

Hi Pauline, yes definitely tomorrow before I leave. I was totally stuffed when I made camp after walking thru Litchfield most of the day in 36 degrees! Even with a swim it knocked me around.
Yes I understand as we did the full seasons but left there on 10th of August, came home to Gold Coast via W A took us 5 months but just had a great time and WA just blew us away, ALL of it. Remember what the build up was like, lasts a long time and really takes it out of you. Thank God for allowing someone to invent air-con.

Well that was an amazing War Cemetery. I took a few pictures but not sure how to load them for you. They had this huge mango tree in the corner just full of almost ripe mangos overhanging the graves in the corner, also the lovely frangipani sending its fragrance thru the cemetery. So very well looked after. Great start to my day. Ended up driving to Daly River Crossing and then back to Katherine. 37 here today and not much cooler now.
Hi Jo I know what you mean about War Cemetary, wonderful place, if you can say that about a Cemetary, we had a drink at Daley River, one of those places you just have to say you have had a drink at. Know what you mean about the heat though Katherine was not a place I really want to revisit. Safe journey and keep me informed where you are at. Have fun.
LOL went to the other Daly pub today and think that must be the one you mean with all the bras etc hanging up! what a fantastic place :)
In Tennant Creek, smell of smoke as they have had a few fires around. Still haven't decided where I'm going, so it's a toss of the coin tomorrow either Alice or turn left into Qld. Was a horrible night 27 still at midnight and I don't have an A/C. Left early and then killed this poor wallaby as he jumped straight in front of me. I had a few tears and stopped. Lovely girl behind me stopped to see if I was OK. Love the NT so many friendly people
Very friendly but different, they say everone that ends up in Darwin is running away from either something or someone, that is why everyone grows a beard so they can't be recognised HA HA Cheers
Hi Justjo, sounds like your having a great trip.. except for hitting the wallaby, I'm the same when I hit a bandicoot or bird, feel so bad but sometimes theres just no avoiding them.. love your avatar, just notice the fella jumping from top of the falls!!

I am having a great trip Honi and that fella was jumping down Florence Falls in Litchfield. There was a group of young men urging each other and of course after one had gone the rest had to!
At Alice Springs for the next few days, very hazy unfortunately because of the bushfires so the ranges are shrouded but going to take a drive out for a closer look tomorrow, making sure I'm driving slow enough to dodge the wildlife.
Sounds like you are having a great trip and your last 2 avatars were stunning photo's. It's a worry about young lads jumping off high falls but what a spectacular photo. Ive only been to Alice for work but loved it. Got to drive around and explore a fair bit plus have locals show me around. It is really magical country. Hermansville is worth seeing if you haven't been there before and there are lots of lookouts etc.
Left Alice early this morning, the smoke haze had become really uncomfortable leaving us with gritty eyes, irritating coughs etc. Made my way to Uluru, and really WOW I mean the pictures show you it but coming around the bend in the road and just seeing it... blew me totally away. It's huge! Going back for sunrise! Thanks Elle, I don't think you could take a bad picture in Litchfield...beautiful scenery. Love NT and will definitely be back for a longer visit. (after the wet!) I'll go back for the Magic Pauline :) At Coober Pedy, didn't get much sleep last night as picked up a 4 legged hitchhiker at Uluru who scrambled all over the van. Set the trap but no peanut paste let's hope he hopped off so sleep tonight.
Coober Pedy is amazing and that word just doesn't cover it. lol expected Mad Max to escort me into town.
