I'm a bit late on this thread, but we're definitely in the first category -- sold our house and 35 years of accumulated 'stuff' (it gets easier as you go on, even liberating!) three years ago, had our 5th wheeler built for us in Brisbane (Southern Cross Caravans) and, despite having never travelled before, we're still loving every minute.
As we have a larger van -- 25' 6", or 7.7 m -- there's no lack of kitchen space, and our bed is not over the hitch, so we have a 'walk-around' bedroom. The bathroom is as large as many flats (shower's bigger than some!), and we're self-contained and solar powered When we want to stop for a while we do some house-sitting, usually in semi-rural areas, but still prefer to sleep in our own house. If we can no longer drive then we find somewhere to throw out the anchor -- we're still 'home'.
It's a great life!! ;)

I go out, I come home, to my van. I've been travelling or itinerant most of my life. No real home life, living with relatives over time, so travel seems to be my lot in life, and I love it. In 1996 I had an opportunity to change the way I did things, so I gave my kids my furniture and headed to the Kimberleys for "3 months". I left 11 years later. Home is really where the heart is, not the furniture or the kids.

Hi Girty, No 1 for us, have been for 2 years now & loving it. Although just left Darwin after a 3 mth stay (probably 1 mth too long, but the weather was fantastic), now headed west, may see you somewhere along the way. A good topic. Regards

We are number 1 and just had our 12 month on the road aniversary. We sold up everything last year for a life on the road and have no regreted any of it. We also cant believe how cheap it is to live on the road, with just site fees, food and we dont use much fuel as we stay in the one spot for ages if we like it, so not continually on the road.
We have met some great people and seen some great things, and are only just getting started.
I still dont really fit in the whole grey nomad thing though as I am only 44 and hubby is only 50, and we do get some funny looks when we tell people we are on the grey nomad trail, but oh well. lol.
Hi we are number 1, this is it for us no house anywhere, just the van been that way for 5 years now. I have many medical issues but thank god hubby is very good with his hands and has modified steps and bed etc for me. Love reading all posts on this site but there is one thing i wonder about, why don't people put where they are when they put a post on, i don't mean address but just say the town where they are especially when its about weather etc.
Getting out of the city is my escape valve. Number 2. Looking forward to winning the lottery - to say see you to work and trips can be longer and leisurely.
Definitely a number 2 ( not a little s**t). Will graduate, hopefully to a number 1 next year when we retire for good. Until then coming home working for a while and then heading off again.
All the best,
Terro.

Gotta be a number 2. Should be back in Perth around May or June, Depends how the Queensland leg of the journey goes. If it takes longer than planned, I may need to re-.schedule the southern sector ( Victoria, Tasmania, SA.) A couple of months in Perth and then back to Bali for 2 weeks.
