why do people have these kind of dogs??

you all know i love dogs, and will always have a special place in my heart, I may or may not ever get another  one , who knows but while I love mostly love most breads , its the pit bull terrier that seem to always be in the news, and i feel so sorry for the familys involved...

I also belive it has a lot to do with training ,but who knows ,

just breaks my heart, i know alot of times its not always the dogs fault , ie kids play too rough with it etc.. but some times its just in there nature... just depresses me when i hear this on the news.........disbeliefnohmm

Saw that on another Forum Milo.  I thought they had already been banned in this country.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Unfortunately humans have been responsible for creating many breeds of dogs which should never have been developed, these include dogs with inbred deformities, health problems, disabilities etc.

I firmly believe breeds such as pitbulls should be banned and not allowed to continue reproducing. Owners of these breeds should be subject to similar police checks, constraints and security requirements as gun owners.  It is an awful tragedy and goes way beyond an accident on the part of the owner.

I was in a caravan park a couple of years ago walking my Oz terrier and Belgian shepherd on leads when a couple of unrestrained staffys errupted from an annex and attacked us. Luckilly the owner managed to get them under control quikly but my question is what were aggressive dogs doing in a caravan park - and in general staffys are a lovely breed. This was a clear case of owner irresponsibility.

All dogs can be protective and it is up to the owners to be vigilant at all times.

Ellen

Don't need to describe it Father ted, that dog went next door at 8pm and entered the neighbours home. Then attacked and killed a little girl who was clinging to her mums leg. Its a tragedy and no matter what the description kill the b.........../
Sheba, the news item I read said they will have to think about banning them in Victoria. Whats to think about, it should have been done a long time ago.

Terrible News ... Dosent matter wot sort of dog it was .. But u find most pit bulls are bred for fighting ..ripping other dogs to bit's to win the fight and the owner money a distusting sport no matter what way you look at it very cruel to the dogs as well ... A small child is would be just other target to this dog ..... The owner need to be charge with murder in my opinon ...It about time owner were made responsible for the action of these dogs and maybe the breeders too if they are breeding these dog for fighting and killing .....

My son-i-l was attacked by a dog in early July in his own backyard!

He went out in the night to investigate a noise he'd heard, and as soon as he walked out the door, it just came straight at him. It did some awful damage to him around his wrist. One deep hole in his wrist was of particular concern to the doctors at the hospital. They had to anesthetise him to clean it out. He was in hospital for a few days, and he still has tendon problems in that arm.

It was dark of course, but he thinks it was a cattle dog and it had a collar, so must have belonged to someone. They live in a rural area so it could have been a feral, and they've never been able to find it.

And many years ago my daughter, who was about 3 at the time, was attacked by a dog. I thought this dog was tied up but it was on a long run, and just came straight at us. Luckily I was able to grab her and yank her out of the way. Just as this happened, the owner came around the corner and witnessed it all. She got the police to put it down. She had no idea it could be so aggresive.

I don't think ANY dog should be trusted around children.

That tragedy should never have happened. Very sad.

I heard someone on the radio today, saying that they had been banned here already, but people are getting around that, by Crossbreeding, and calling them by the other part of the cross.

Cheeers,

Sheba.

There is a Pet friendly park on Sunshine Coast Qld - Caloundra called Golden Beach Caravan Park, 1 Onslow St, Golden Beach. I believe this was the information you were asking for?

Cheers
