Heavy Rain and Flood Warnings

For anyone heading to the North of Victoria. We have heavy rain and strong winds. Bad enough not to go outside today.

Also flood warnings were issued for the north east area including around the Goulburn River. The Goulburn enters the Murray east of Echuca so not sure how that will affect the Murray which was high anyway when I was down there at the weekend.

I was going to the movies today to see Red Dog but won't be leaving the house unless it clears by lunchtime. Looks like its set in for the day. Maybe  for a few days.

Done a lot of work in Myrtle, all lino and carpet laid and looks so good, so fresh (white and blue) and makes her look so much better than the 30 year old brown lino. Should have taken photos yesterday, now far too wet to go outside. Have all my bedding and linen etc stacked at the front door waiting to go out as well.
Tried to polish her, done quite a bit but the arthiritis in my arms is really playing up so will have to take a good friend up on offer to use his electric buffer.
Will have to check timetable at movies to see if Red Dog will still be on when the rain stops. I really wanted to see it.
Jules, stay where you are for now. It is raining so heavy here can hear it through a tiled roof.

Have seen Red Dog and in my opinion it is a marvellous movie, as has been mentioned, take a box of tissues with you, you will need them.

A beautiful day here in the Brisbane Valley.

Had visitors and we had nibbles and drinks out in the courtyard.

We will possibly have a late shower and it's expected to go to 8 deg. overnight
but will reach 24 deg. again tomorrow.  smile

Yes Jimbo, I've been told its impossible to get in there after a lot of rain.
Could be the same out at Riverbend Steve and Maria. Think thats the place my son and family stayed last summer. The road in and out can get quite chopped up. But great park, the family loved it.

Heavens! I hope it warms up a bit and dries out some before I come home.  I have about 10 days before I have to head home.  The weather has been good since I arrived in Qld last week.

You lucky girl Norma, I'm so jealous and Esmerelda, can't you stay up there a bit longer.
I'm hoping it fines up by the weekend, Daughter due next week, hoping to have baby before Monday so it can be a Leo starsign and also because bubs already weighs 8lb 12oz and not even out yet. Could increase a lot in another week.
I'm hoping it fines up before she goes into labour, not nice having to travel nearly 100 ks in this terrible weather to have the baby.

No, I have to be home by Father's Day.  Now my parents are in their 80s I tend to treat each special occasion like it could be the last - i.e. don't miss unless absolutely necessary.

At present at Nundle, so far have missed the rain that obviously has fallen (puddles on the road etc) but only a few spots whilst coming up from Forbes. Rather a little nippy, but OK, particularly when the caraffe of wine 'mysteriously' emptied over dinner!! Another three nights, then it's home for us (nth of Bne) for a couple of months. Sounds like we too got out of Echuca just in time.

We have had a wonderful time for the last 7 weeks discovering Tassie and other places in between.

Looking forward to having you up our way Marj when you can make it.

Pete & June

I LOVE Nundle, Pejay...pretty place and besides being an intersting gold mining town, is full of my family history.
Love exploring it and can't wait to get back.

It's all very well for you folks up north. We folks down south are tolerating the cold, wet winter.
The 20+ deg we had more than a week ago was a little sniff of spring. Even the plants got confused and a little excited.
Now it's back to winter and the ground is slushy and slippery, the wind is cold and it's no fun at all.
Orange and that western plains country of NSW has to be the coldest region of this country. You can have it.

Let me tell you GC, it isn't real warm here at Nundle today!!! Thought I had finished with the long johns once we had left Tasmania, but dug 'em out again this morning so we could head out and try our uck at a little gold-panning - or at least Pete did, too wet and cold for moi!!! Decided to do a little stitching in the van with the heater going - think I have had enough cold weather for the time being.

A Wangaratta caravan park was evacuated tonight because of rising rivers expected to flood.
