Blood thinners Warfarin/Coumadin

Wondering if there are travellers out there who need regular INR checks and how they manage this when away from main towns. Am considering buying our own machine so that it can be monitered and adjusted as needed so it does not impact too much on our outback travels

thanks in anticipation - Jenny

There is another threaad on here somewhere about exactly that, check in search.
My son is on Warfarin, when he was moving around a bit his doc gave him an ongoing script for blood tests, usually lasts about 6 months.
He would go in where ever he was to have the test, they would ring him on his mobile, tell him the results AND tell him how much he had to alter his dosage.
Not sure how you would do that last bit if doing the whole thing yourself.
You really need a doctor to be monitoring it as my son has found out now since he has had one of his other medications altered, it is playing havoc with his warfarin. They haven't been able to get it right for months.
