Just exercise some caution using your dual cig outlets and be careful putting it onto anything that will melt or catch fire , mate burnt a bloody big hole in his pax seat when he used it with his 12 volt kettle the actual dual holder got that hot . You may need to carry extra fuses for that circuit. Check out your local marine outlet for an extinguisher have seen some good deals lately

Thats interesting wombat280. Do you mean it got hot when using them both at once or just using the kettle on its own? I liked the idea it has a metre long lead and phone wouldn't be dangling but if thats the case will make sure I don't use both outlets at the same time.

Be wary using a 12V electric jug the pull 200Watts. They may have a cigarete lighter plug on them, but realy arent up to the job. I had one in my boat & ran a heavy lead just for the jug with a 20A fuse.

I've had the 12 v jug for a while Debe but never used it for that reason. There has been warnings on here before. Maybe I will take it out of the van and not attempt to use it at all.

I've had one of those double adaptors for the ciggie lighter for a couple of years and plug in everything from the GPS, phones, E book reader and T Touch which is like an I Pad without any problems

I also have used my ciggie double socket for a few years connect my gps and then run my laptop through an inverter all connected to the two ciggie outlets at the same time, but I would not try the kettle.

I wasn't the one who mentioned kettle wombat. I didn't buy it for that. I take my electric jug for powered sites and put a pot of water on the gas stove when free camping.

Most people seem to be concentrating on the Cigarette Lighter aspect, meaning it will run from the Vehicle Battery. Don't forget if you have a House, or Solar Battery, you can plug in directly to that.

The only thing I use my Cigarette Lighter thingy for, is to charge my 'phone, while driving. Everything else is run straight off the House battery.[Solar.]

Thanks Sheba, have worked it out now. I do have an inverter so don't need all the extra as well. Just need a new house battery which I should be able to get straight after Myrtles heart surgery. Then will be looking for a new awning as well.

Marj - don't get rid of your little 12v kettle, when you make your morning cuppa on the stove, or with electric kettle, put some boiling water in a thermos, and use this in the 12v kettle - doesn't take as long to boil the warmer water, we used to do this when on the road, plug it in and start looking for a spot to stop and have a cuppa - usually boiled by the time we found somewhere.
Same thing if you are free camping, if you use the gas to make your morning cuppa, put that water in a thermos and use it through the day in your 12v kettle.
Worked for us.

Those Cig adapters are fine for low current draw equipment . If using both together remember you can't draw max circuit current from each plug hole . As someone has said the use of the 12 volt kettle is great from bring hot water back to Coffee / Tea temp. From cold you need all bloody day to get the chill off it They do flatten batteries in stationary vehicles very fast

You troops have got me curious now.
Maybe it's a good survey topic, but I'm not smart enough to get it kicked of.
I cup of coffee in the morning, then water most of the day. Maybe a can of Coke Zero during the middle of the day.
Sorry about going off topic again, but the hot water and electric jug topic has got me wondering.
