Don't they (local CP Operators) realise they will not get the same amount of vans thru their towns? Don't they realise GN'S spend money in the towns?? Their loss really.

cheers

we will pass by towns with this attitude, same as we bypass Kakadu because of their outragious entry fee.

Looks like Guyra won't see us overnight again - we were not impressed with the CP when we stayed there early this year. Pity about the local businesses, though...

Down the road a bit at Walcha, however, it's a different story - the CP is really 5-star, AAA++ with lovely, friendly owners, and not expensive (early 2011, anyway!). And Walcha is a great little town. (Will post this info on 'Recommended' section later.)

We always stay at "mother of ducks lagoon" near golf course (free camp) . I didn't know Gurya had camping at the showgrounds. Hope I've got the right place - Guyra between Glen Innes and Armidale.

Hey Andrea,, are the same as you, we were not too impressed either with the park at Guyra - very tired and run down.

Hope they liked my email...(Dont think they will)...councils and owners  will not learn that the word spreads like wild Fire. If they start sucking up too their Council mates about closeing things down..Wish they and the others read what travellers really think of them......It's just so expensive too stay at their tiny little sites

As I did here in Tassie, let the local chamber of commece/local traders association and local member state and federal know of your actions as well.

I am aware that in the case of the kentish council here in Tassie making arrangements other than allowing free camping at a site was influeneced by correspondnce recieved by the council and representation by state members. Weather my emails to councils, and state members had anything to do with it I don't know, but I'm sure that it would not have had I not written.

It's time to flog the park owners and then draw and quarter them for objecting to the council or showground committee for operating an opposition business without seemingly the need to comply to the same regulations and legislation as a ratepaying park.

The Industry already knows that if the showgrounds or other camping areas are shut down traveller will just go elsewhere.
The problem is not with caravan parks, but showgrounds that charge a fee while not complying to the same regulations (And fees) that the council and State Governments impose on caravan parks.
If councils offered their showground or other areas for free, then the non compliance would not be a problem.
More traveller would stop over, spend money in town. The more that stp in town the more thay attract, and some of those would use the caravan park. That way all would be winners.
