MALLACOOTA

All nicely settled at the Foreshore Van Park in Mallacoota. Just a hop step and a jump from home really.

Beautiful weather today just jeans and a t-shirt until late afternoon.  Sure beats the wind a cold we have had for the past few weeks.

Didn't take Blue long to drop a line in the water.  From local talk the fishing is better just after dark so it's anybody's guess when we will have dinner tonight.

Will stay here for a few days I think, Blue has a lot of catching up to do.  He's suffering withdrawals as he hasn't done any fishing since we left home at the beginning of May.

What a lovely spot. Just drove in there a fortnight ago to view Henry Lawson's M' Bar.

Had forgotten how beautiful Victoria was, during my RAAF days.  Fifty years back.

It won't be another fifty before I head down there again, in my tidy little Scout camper.  Happy travelling all.

Tell Blue to hire a day boat. He will not only have peace & quite & good scenery, but may even catch a fish or 2. A lovely spot but give the pub a miss.

Gee you've covered some miles since you were here. I miss you already.

And another newbie has dropped in. Welcome Camscout. Nice to see you here and I hope you enjoy your stay.

Hi Ma, Cheryl and I have just left Mallacoota. We spent 5 days there on our way to Eden (weather was a bit off but not bad) and then another couple of days on the way back. I have to say it's one of the best places we've come across. We both agreed that if it wasn't for the distances involved we could finally call it home after we finish our 5 or 6 year journey around Aust. Love it Briche

Sorry to have missed you Briche.

We are extending our stay by another three days.

The weather is fantastic at the moment, couldn't ask for better.

After two days with no fish, all bar a little black fish who shall live to swim another day, we have revised our decision to extend our stay and will leave in the morning and head to Moruya.

Not that we don't like it here, we do, but one of the things that was very off putting was when I was doing the washing a lady came in with a very smelly load of washing and proceeded to put it into one of the machines.

There were more dog blankets than clothes in her load and the smell was horrible.

I love dogs so don't get me wrong but some people just don't give a dang.

When I said something to her she just said that her dogs were cleaner than some people she knows.

Sorry but will be hesitant to come back here again.

At least Blue had some fun in his little "Squidgy" and he was fully kitted out too.

Rob looks cute in the "floating echidna". Oh, that's fishing rods in a kayak. My mistake.
Pity about not catching any fish with all that gear. What a waste!
I hope you reported the selfish, inconsiderate woman to park management. That's definitely one of the dog park no-nos here.
If those smelly blankets are cleaner than some people she knows, she must know some really skanky people. Yuk!
Safe travelling.

Very Ewwwwww Fly.   I can see us opting for parks in the future that don't allow pets just because of this woman's actions.   It's people like her that make it hard for those with pets that do the right thing.

Hate to think what circles she moves in Chris. The not so clean brigade it would seem. and yes I did have a word in the appropriate ear.   She's still here though.

It's just one more example of the minority spoiling it for the rest....

GN friends of mine were in a nice CP on the North Coast of NSW a few years ago when a woman came in with horse blankets to wash. When my friend challenged her, she said that she lived nearby and always washed them at the CP as she didn't want her own machine to be full of hair.

Thankfully, said park has moved with the times and installed locks on the laundry. Seemingly it doesn't keep out all of the selfish brigade.....but hopefully it helps.

We found out that the amenities block we were supposed to use was a public convenience so hence there was NO ho****er for most of the day.  You had to be in the showers around 5am if you wanted a hot one.

We decided to move on and are now at the North Head camp ground at Moruya.  We don't have 240v but we have our solar and the days are nice and sunny and at a push we could use the genny but prefer not to if possible.

There is drinking water available, cold showers and clean toilets for the use of the campers only.

This will do us fine for a couple of weeks.  Anyone in the area feel free to drop in for a chat.  It's right over the road from the airport, which isn't a problem as there are only 4 commercial flights a day and are really not intursive at all.
