cold in the northern territory

Friend of mine has not long been back from the territory where we used to

all go when i lived in port mcq for years, he reckons for the first time ever in all

the trips we had done together that it was freezing at night i thought he was

kidding me but nope he said i kid you not we were scratching round for

blankets ,i can remember a sheet only how odd the weather has been of late.

It was actually colder at Broome than Cairns according to the weather today. Usually Broome is about 3 deg warmer on average, but it rains more in Cairns. 24 deg C is cool for that part of the country even at this time of the year.
The night temps are also colder for that region for this time of the year.
In 1998 it did get down to 4 degC in Cable Beach at Tarangau Park, which is behind the dunes.
With this and the early start to the snow season I'd like someone to explain the concept of global warming to me.

Yup, Katherine is doona country too, but the days are a bit warmer at 24. Wind off Antarctica a bit unfriendly today though.

Darwin is still nice and sunny every day, but the nights are getting quite chilly, definitely doona and cardy weather. The locals don't know what's hit them, anyone would think that it was snowing the way they are complaining!

We will be in Darwin in a week or 2 so keep it warm & sunny for us if you're there.

Cheers

We are in Broome at the moment and it is b****y cold in the morning. Yesterday it was about 9 degrees at 7am! The old timers here who have been coming up for years and years say it is the coldest they have ever known it. Quite windy too so the days are in the very low 20's. Doonas, slippers and jumpers - who would have thought?
