CD+G External Drive ..

Hi folks ..

As I do have an interest in singing .. primarily 'oldies' and 'country' music, I'm keen to speak with anyone who may also be involved in using Karaoke equipment.

My intention is to purchase an External Drive which attaches via a USB connection to ones computer. This drive however, needs to have different capabilities compared to the standard CD/DVD burner'player as we commonly use ..

It must be able to read/write the CD+G format .. 'G' primarily referring to GRAPHICS which are the LYRICS needed to display together with the sound files ..

Currently I'm using ORIGINAL discs and not 'copies' .. and this is why I need this piece of equipment ..(a simple scratch can easily ruin the original discs)

I do know that there are some units available although they be quite expensive .. but what I'm asking here is .. " if you have personal knowlege/experience in this field that would help me in determining a suitable unit to purchase, I would most appreciate any support you could give me .. "

My system as it now stands is complete and functions well .. but I would really like to have the means to copy my discs before increasing my library.

kind regards .. Jon

Hi Jon....

Not quite sure what you want to do..........but it sounds like you want to copy your Karake disc to a hard drive and have the sub titles there.....
Should be just like a movie with sub titles.
Copy disc to computer with DVD Decrypter then change to an AVI file with AGK.
Then you have to copy back to a disc using ConvertxDvd and put the subtitles in they are an (srt file) now once on the disc with the sub titles you can copy them to your hard drive should be just a normal drive from office works best place up here.

Hi Phil .. and thanks for the prompt response ..

What you've stated is quite probably what I would want to do .. but using and getting used to how to do all this stuff will take me time to learn. The player does have the capacity to attach a hard drive but my 'learning curve' is not real fast ..

Many thanks mate .. will look at what you've said and check out these utilities. It will keep me occupied while here at Mareeba (for another coupla months at least )

Jonathan I'm gathering you just want to duplicate the discs you have so as to use the copies when out and keep the originals safe. If so I think you should be able to just copy the disc.

I have some CD+G discs so will have a play and get back to you...

thanks Gubby ..

You may find though the lyrics or graphics side dont copy .. but then your drive/ burner could also be compatible .. which would allow you to do so ..

thanks mate ..

Jon
