We are taking my hot water bottle this time around, its so yummy in bed, it will work a treat in the van I think. smile

Would it be possible to use a 5 fin oil heater in the hiace, only at powered sites obviously.
I have one here I use in the bedroom over the winter. Hadn't thought about it till I saw them advertised in the heating page of Bunnings.
There's no direct heat coming from them as in elements that could burn anything or blowing heat at any wall, and they have a gentle warmness coming from them all the time. A 5 fin would be small enough to pack out of the way when not in use. What do you think?

If you can fit it in it should be quite safe to use & they dont seem to get to hot, just a bit slower to heat up compared to a fan heater.

Katmandu camping store sells hand warmers. Liquid gel bags that you put into hot water to heat up. They are remarably warm and hold their heat for ages. Good for pockets, behind your back if you are sitting up or I put my feet on them.

Aldi had these on sale last week with their ski gear, they looked like a great idea zedjay, wish I had grabbed some now. no

 That's what I use, has a thermostat, silent, is safe to leave on all night or when you go out.  They are slow to heat up and to start warming up the van so a little fan heater as well is a help if you want instant warmth.

My rig has canvas sides so not much insulation there!  It does have heavy curtains and does not have the pull out end beds common on camper trailers like mine, so that may help a bit.

Thanks for that. Will take mine with me next time. I use it in the bedroom all winter. Does take a bit to warm up but if in a powered site you are using their power and be patient. At least there is no danger with them.
I do have one of those blue thingees you heat up in hot water, liquid gel bags, never thought of taking it with me, so will add that as well. Will be handy for the aching back as well as won't have microwave to heat up my wheat pack, which by the way works well to put your feet on also. Thanks all.

 Big w have a mini 7 fin colum oil heater  think they are about $30.00 ..seen then other day  was thinking the be good for small vans  ... or maybe a small furnace fan would be good in your van .....

 Thanks marj   .... yes   use what you  have  and  save money .. but if you  do need smaller one keep eyes out for sales sometime you can pick up heater for fraction of what they cost normally

One of the problems with internal body warmers is if you drink too much you have to get out of your warm bed/bag to have a pee in the middle of the night and cold.......wink ashamed
