Rearview camera

We have had a few issues with trucks, cars, motorbikes, etc coming up behind us without knowledge. We have decided that we should instal a review camera, rather that a revearsing camera to keep an eye on what's coming up behind us. I can see situations out in the outback where things like road trains can put you in a difficult place if you don't see them first. Can anyone tell me of a suitable review camera suitable for this application. I have seen enough comments about radio links to know that a hard wired one is more suitable. Anyway we would appreciate tour comments, like brands, etc briche

Hi Briche,

If you click on "Search"   (top centre of page)  and type in  "Camera", or maybe "reversing"  or Reversing Camera etc.

You will get the various  posts and queries regarding this subject.

Fitted  cameras to two vehicles so far.  Not realy a big deal.   But I would reccomend paying a bit more for a camera.    Also specify "Reversing" or "Rear View"

As the reversing  type camera is usually  wider angle (good for reversing) and gives a distorted image if used for Rear View.

For instance,  a Kenworth truck can look like it is a kilometre behind you, when it is only a hundred metres in reality.

Regards

Mike

Hi Briche , have a rearview cam on our motorhome and is invaluable on the road as we can see if someone wants to overtake ( Especially B Doubles on the Nullabour ). Enables you to signal them when is clear to overtake and you can move over in advance which they really appreciate. Can distort distance but you get used to it.Brilliant when wet as can see nothing in mirrors but its all on cam. Also fun to watch how people in cars creep up REALLY close behind WHY ??? Can't advise on brands but guess as with most things buyer beware and you only get what you pay for ! Happy travelling to you.
