I've seen one request that's common on this forum on many threads and that is to see pics of each others rigs, so I thought we should have a thread to do just that.
So come on join in "I'll show you mine if you show me yours", (Rigs that is..)
I'll get the ball rolling, here is our little rig that we bought second hand about twelve months ago, we used to caravan many years ago but with family and work requirements we sprouted roots and as far as travelling went we became a bit stagnant. Over the last few years we have been doing a few trips and we decided to get us a van.
We thought we would get a second hand, use it for a few years and sort out exactly what we want, at the moment I am installing it with 12v supply and battery management system so as we are not confined to CPs
We've done a lot of little breaks here and there with it and a six week stint in Tassie, we are both enjoying it tremendously, all I've got to do is convince the Missus that we can make the big break.
That's enough about me, Okay everyone it's your turn.....
I am sure you have all seen our new rig on my other thread and we love it so far.
I had never camped in my life until my partner took me away in 2006 on a five week jaunt from the Hunter Valley to Darwin, in a tent.
But I loved every minute of it so we decided to buy a tent trailer, you know the sort that fold over and the kitchen swings out. Well as we trolled everywhere looking for one, we spotted a Jayco Hawke and we bought it instead.
In 2008 we did an 11 week trip in it and it was pure luxury after the tent and in 2010 we went away for about 9 weeks and discovered free camping. We also did part of the trip in a bigger tent.
Now thats how we thought a holiday should be, in the bush listening to nature. Thats why we upgraded to our Rapid, to be a lot more self sufficient.
We are heading off in July to Lawn Hill in Qld for a month to test it out.
As neither of us has retired yet and no signs of it happening anytime soon, we will know well and truly what sort of rig we want when we get our ultimate setup. Well thats the plan anyway.
Oh and if anyone would like a Jayco Hawk Outback, we have one for sale.

I must be a binge thinker. I do it a lot at times, then, not much at all.
'Morning everyone, hopefully the photo of our rig comes out OK. Our 'tug' is a 2003 GU Nissan Patrol, and our 'tow' is a 2000 Mayfair by Regent 17'6" van.

G'day all. Well i've been into the camping thing for awhile now. Started out with a Torana & two man tent, then family tent. Hi lux & tent. Done some 4x4ing in the High Country around Melbourne, Ottways along the Great Ocean Road among other drives in Vic.
Patrol & tent. Same as above.
Rodeo & tent. Same as above. Rodeo & an old '69-'70 Viscount Ambassador Caravan that we bought for a spare bedroomn for the older kids. Now that they've moved out :) decided it was time to clean it up and try it out for ourselves. Not done much in the van yet, but trying.
Planning to take a year off and work our way around in the next couple of years.
Fingers crossed :)

Here,s my humble bus. Its a 93 Hilux diesel, done 340000klms on some of the roughest roads in Oz. Very reliable, but a bit rough in places(a bit like me), pictured at Limmen bight , NT.Tinnie fits on front, and two berths in back. 148ltrs fuel, 120 ltrs water. Good for the out of way places I love.Off to the Cape, in Oct.Would love an off road caravan, but thet charge $36 a meter on the barge to the island where I live. Come and visit , if you can.
Here is my Coromal, and also a pic of my vehicle - van is Coromal Cygnet 14ft pop top, car - Nissan Terrano II Tdi 1997, d9one 230,000 now, still going strong.
Somewhere in here is a photo of Gypsy closed down, but I can't seem to find it. Anyway, my avatar is the clearest photo I have of my rig. I'll have to take a few more next time I hook her up.
I had the zip-on awning made last year. It was certainly welcome at Jondaryan last August when it was wet.

For those that dont know my dad (87) and I travel some times in our 2008 Fiat based Jayco Conquest motor home, we call it "The Tardis"..
inside
this is my fav pic with Dad and Ben the dog.. (ben now gone)
only thing i would do differently if we did it again was get a van with 2 single beds, its a pain in the a***** to pull the dinner table down and make it a be every night, dad's ok tho, he gets the big bed .

ok see if I can get a couple of pictures up of my van, I brought it in October in Kununurra WA and drove her back to Cairns in QLD, didn't miss a beat, I am basically a wannabe nomad, so will only be getting away weekends and a week here and there but hey any time away is better than none.
Beth, that looks great with the extra awning, finishes it off well. Headnhome, what a great set up, obviously you have a dog. Some great ideas on here. Everyones is so different.
Heres a better pic of our outfit. Jayco Discovery "Outback" towed by a Prado turbo diesel. We had a tent for a few trips, graduated to a camper trailer, then upsized to this last year. So far very happy with it although had a couple of minor problems fixed under garantee.
HW, Havn,t been any where yet. It had an oil leak picked up when I took it to get it registered. Took a week to get it fixed. KEA looked after me really well and reimbursed me the $2500 without my even asking them. Then I had to return it to them for a couple of small repairs to the paintwork. Once again it was fixed no charge. Then, my younger brother passed away suddenly over Easter. All a bit traumatic. Am heading off to Yarrawonga tomorrow but its not the maiden voyage I had imagined. He named me as executor in his will so am going to try and sort a few thing out. Expect to be making a number of trips there over the next few months. Probably be able to catch up with you at some stage when you make it home. Regards Mel
