Caravan gas/.electric ho****er systems

Someone has probably mentioned this before, but I am new to this so please be patient with me.  We have trouble getting our suburban gas/electric system to fire up on gas whilst the door of the unit is closed.  Does anyone else have this problem and have you found away around it?  I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

Is there some sort of switch on the door that prevents it from being started up on gas so that it doesn't overheat?

With the Truma type, if you forget to remove the exterior cover it shuts down very quickly to stop itself self desructing.

Hello all

If you leave the cover on and try to light it a few time you will hear a loud bang when the gas builds up and blows it off.

First thing when I stopped was to take the cover off

I have the same unit, do you mean the door on the outside of the van or the cupboard door inside the van?

if you mean the outside door I would be taking it to a gas fitter to check it out, outside door door should not be open.
