Jayco vs Avan

Hi we are new to caravaning & just sold our Jayco Hawk Outback which we had for a few years & loved it "no probs". We are looking to upgrade to a Jayco Discovery Outback shower model or an Avan Jack, we have heard some negative comments about both & i don't mind saying i have the jitters about buying either! Does anyone have any advice on this subject we want to do a few short trips next year before doing a lap around Aus, thanks for your input.no

Take your time to do your research, be cautious when you make your decision, and don't be conned by any salesperson.
I've only heard people's feedback, but have not had any personal experience with any of them. I have a Roma.
Some Jayco and A Van customers are dubious, while others have nothing but praise, so the decision you make will be based on what your learn.
Buy a second hand one where all the teething problems have been addressed and the water marks will be obvious.
Good luck with your investment.

Thanks for the advice, the caravan show is on in Brisbane early june i'm going to have a good look at the competition, that way we can make a more informed decision on our investment. Thanks again and enjoy your trip.

That's a good idea. Just look, leave your money and cards at home, keep your eyes and ears open, then go home and weigh up all the info.
It's too overwhelming while you're in the hustle, bustle and bullsh!t.
If you already have the size and style of van in mind, all you have to do is work within your budget and needs. Now, don't I make that sound easy?
I'm glad I'm not making the decision.
There are so many vans, styles and configurations of diverse quality and value. Good luck!

We had a Hawk & had nothing but praise for it also top after sales service from the Jayco dealer, just not too sure about their vans, there is plenty of competition at the van show though.

A TVAN is a great up market off-road Campertrailer. http://www.tracktrailer.com.au/tvan_overview1.html

Not quite your Jayco/Avan.

We had a Jayco Discovery pop top, although not an outback model and we were very pleased with it.   Took it over some rather rough stuff and plenty of corrugations and met all our expectations.

Bit late, but having had an A'Van Camper Trailer (A shape) and a Jayco pop top I found that both had some initial teething problems (quality control issues) however Jayco wins on the repair/warrant issues hands down and is known for being one of the best in Oz even making good on things after expiry of the warranty for me and I have heard others say that too.

You can ask other Jayco owners by going to the Jayco Website www.jayco.com.au  (put in au or you'll get the US website) and look up Travel Diary under owners info.
