Satelite tracking of your caravan or mobile home if stolen

Sorry guys and girls about my previous post regarding this same subject. I made a big mistake, as i gave you the wrong address. It should have been www.trackall.com.au instead of what i did give you.

Should you go onto this site you will find a satelite tracker that can be hard wired into your on board battery system. The unit can be set via an SMS and give alerts to your mobile phone should the van/motorhome move from what they call a geo fence. Your van can be tracked either by SMS to your mobile or via Google live anywhere in the world. At $299, the unit will be in my van very shortly.

I love to free camp, an am heading off shortly for two months trip to Darwin, where I hope to be able to leave the van in some spots and go off site seeing, safe in the knowledge that if my van is stolen, I will know about it almost instantly, and be able to track it's whereabouts to within a couple of meters.

Anyhow, check it out, and see what you think.

Once again, sorry about putting you on a bum steer the first time.

G'day mate and thanks for your post. That is quite a good price for a gps tracking device and a great idea for protecting a big investment. Does your insurance company offer a discount on your premium?

cheers

I don't know, but I expect they would if you could show them where it is exactly. It should lead to the arrest of a few if caught in the act, which I expect you would be able to do.

There would be a small charge each time you check on it's whereabouts by SMS text, plus the cost of the sim card, but I can't see what else you would pay for.

Some of the other systems I looked in to had a monthly access charge, whether it was accessed or not. That didn't appeal to me.

One of the other benefits of this system was that I can nominate up to five contacts that I wish to access the system. If my van was stolen, my laptop would be in the van, so I would nominate my son and daughter and a friend to have access, so it can be tracked by them. The other two contacts would be my laptop and mobile phone.

The only thing I can't find out is, is it water proof, and does it have an external antenna, so that either the unit goes on the roof of the van, or it is hidden away in a cupboard and an antena is put on the roof. I emalied the company, but haven't recieved a reply from them. I will have to ring them and find out.

We are getting a new van soon costing $70,000 .

An extra $300 for something like this is a must IMO . Definately will be looking into it .

Thanks for the info .

Brian .
