Envious

I keep seeing people on their way to "who knows where", caravans hitched on, camper trailers, boats, rooftop tents - and I am so envious at this time.  Oh, well hopefully this time next year I will be well on the way to heading off myself - just need to get over this year.

Who else is having to stay home this year?

That's how I got stuck in Cairns for 2 years, health stuff. Now the van is parked up on stands, but I'll be on the road anytime now. Hopefully after the Easter/ANZAC holidays.
It was great to be on the road for the month it took to get down to Adelaide. Now I have to acclimatise to the southern weather.
I haven't seen a winter since '96, except for 1 week last year. I've already had a small taste of "cold", but there's more to come. Thank God for the heater and fluffy slippers.

Yeh, stuck at home too for a month or so, hopefully head off somewhere after that.

Chris, have you tossed in your escort job? I just saw where you said you would be heading off soon with your van? Too all the lucky one who are on the road heading to warmer climes have a safe trip.

As I said won't be till maybe this time next year - but I willprobably head North, West, South, East, then North, West, South, East again!! Oh, maybe some South West, or maybe North West or North East or South East as well.

Just got to get over this year - bit of a horrible one I am finding.

This looks like a good place to spend a couple of weeks or so ---

Can relate to your frustration Jules, spent a lot of last year tied down by health problems , had a shaky start this year, but it has motivated us to go while we can and make the most of every single day... even days spent at home.

Hope things improve for you smile

In the same vote jules 47. The doctor and specialist appointment just seem to be stretch further and further into the year. Then this week I scored a dose of shingles. June is hopefully looking promising.

No, I've just set the car up and expect to be heading off without the van. The call could come at any time. It will be good to be on the road - and get paid for it. Yahoo!!! smile.gif

Jules, I too am envious.  Had my van for three months now and still have yet to get away.  I plan to get away for a short trip or two (about couple of weeks each) but neither will be too far or long enough.

Cheers, Es hmm

G'Day Chris, hope it all goes well.......and keep your eyes out for those crazy RV owners on the road.........well the lunatic ones among us anyway! lol !

I should be headig off in the next couple of days. Thought about waiting till after Easter then realised I had two choices. Sit here all easter doing nothing, seeing no one, watching a bit of tv and maybe gardening. All sounded pointless to me, or getting out there this week and slowly taking my time up the Newell, stopping when I felt like it, wandering new towns, having a good browse round and having that bit of extra time on the road.
Easter will be busier here than it ever will be on the road. This is the last chance for city people to get away to the country before winter sets in so the town is always very busy.

Good thinking Marj.  Nothing worse than hurrying along and missing things.

Have a great time.   Will you be here during your travels ?

Cheers,

Sheba.

Norma, intend to go your way and up through Finley through to Jerilderie. Have your number will ring when I know when I'm leaving.
Sheba, intend coming up your way after spending some time with son and grandkids in Biggenden, its only another few hundred ks. Will let you know when closer.
Van nearly packed and garden all tidy for my time away. Just need to get a bale of sugar cane mulch tomorrow to keep the weeds down while I'm away.

I have packed a bag full of books I've been saving up just for the trip. Happy to spend Easter parked in one of the Newell towns riverside parks or something similiar rather than sitting here wondering why I didn't get away when I had the chance.
Could be a couple of weeks before I reach Qld.

The oldies are popping off like flies around me. Excuse that phrase, but another elderly gent died last night only a few units away from me, has got a few people saying "You've got the right idea, get out there and explore while young and fit enough"

us too stuck here till we retire i reckon unless our business becomes worth much more that we can pay all our debt off
and hit the road, im pretty much settled now that it has to be short stays away until weve done what we need to do
and then enjoy it at least we will have money then.

i only hope we are healthy , lots of stories you hear of people getting there retirement and then falling ill, nothin worse than
hearin those stories.

safe travels for you all that are heading off soon take care.
