.. it may not be relevant, but I've had problems ever since I changed from XP to Windows 7 ..
Further to that, I've also been told that there can be problems with certain 'boards' when stored data that was received under one format is added to by another format. Thats apparently because once parameters have been set when a new member becomes active, their 'fingerprint' is established and any slight variation to the way data is presented could cause hiccups .. I'm no techy though ..

when I attempt to post it just sits there thinking about letting me but goes nowhere. I am logging on as always. Can read all posts and contact members thru the forum. Have had this problem since just before xmas, I initially thought it might have been because we had limited coverage in Tassie but same thing happening back on the mainland with full coverage
cheers Gary
This one has me tossed. I thought if someone could send PMs then he would have been able to post messages. Is there any one out there who can assist.
Garry - I have had another brain wave since I replied to your PM. What browser are you using? If you are using IE then download one of the others and install it. You can try Firefox, Google Chrome or Opera. During the install process you get the option of copying your bookmarks from your existing browser, so read the instructions closely during the install.

Ah ha! Like Johnathon above I too have had nothing but trouble since being forced into Windows Bloody 7 (new computer). Under XP, no trouble at all. But since getting the new machine, I have not been able to post new messages and can only use the quick reply function, as I have here. This is very frustrating for a naturally chatty chappie like me! Have bought a (big) book on Windows 7, but am sot sure I have enough red wine to finish it. Why doesn't Microsoft understand the adage: If it ain't broke, don't fix it? Cheers, Tony

Agree that Windows 7 was a challenge, its finally working in the new puta and as they regularly update its getting better. There was a time we couldnt shut the *** thing down, then after yet another update it worked! And we still cant use the skype phone.
But no problems with the forum using it.... mind you this is at home, on broadband. Things might be a lot different out there in travelling land.
Garry and Kerry, we'd love to hear from you. Would it be possible to send a post via pm and the recipient can the copy it to the forum?
After some technical difficulties we are finally back online. What caused the problem and more to the point what fixed it is still unknown. I am sitting in Maccas at Pt Augusta with a very slow connection and it works. Thanks to those who offered assistance.
There is now also a Service Pack 1 update for Windows 7 that has just been released. This update should sort out many of the niggling little problems with the original Windows 7 install.
Go to Microsoft Windows update for your free download. You'll' need a good conection as it can be quite a large file. Mine wasn't too bad as I had a latter edition install, but it was still nearly 100MB.
Click on 'Start' - 'All Programs' - Windows Update. Then select 'Service Pack 1'.
Cheers, ozjohn.
