travel insurance for us greys on the road

Hi fellow travellers
Does anyone have extra health cover over and above medicare and private health cover?
Not only am I diabetic but I also have terminal cancer either could set me on my arse in a blink of an eye, at present Im OK so Im not keen to sit around and wait to drop off the perch. My wife has asma to boot so we are a right old pair of dodgy greys.
We are talking about a 7k trip towing a camper trailer  asap and wondered if we should consider additional cover if its around.

Hi Turtle, sorry to hear about your health, one thing I would do is make sure that you have the best "road side asist" I know nothing to do with your situation re, health ,but if you carnt drive for some reason all you stuff is brought home ,and your self ect..
Have a good trip and enjoy your self...
ps..
I think there is some thing you can join thats to do with the flying doctor if you wanted, not sure where or what. google should give you some info..

I have RACWA roadside cover and also include Aussie Assist, we live in WA, had a heart attack in Melb (8years ago) after triple bypass RACWA shipped our van & 4x4 over to WA and piad Virgin to take us home.

Make enquires at your local RAC outlet

If you are pensioners you should be covered healthwise for all public hospitals, and ambulance.. I doubt if medical insurance taken out now would cover for existing conditons. But I may be wrong.

I've ended up in Bundaberg Hosp while on holidays up there and also Geelong Hospital while down there. No problems with either of them.

G'day mate, I dont see the need for extra health cover but I would consult with your treating doctor and get a document outlining your situation in the event you need access to medical treatment etc and what your requirements are, including his contact number etc.
BobnBevs reply re motoring organisation is a good idea, for instance a premium car package that takes in accommodation and transport of vehicle/van should the need occur...........check with your motoring organisation about the weight limits they have in order that you dont exceed them. I believe it is around 4.5tonne?
This forum will give you all the info you need mate, so ask any question, be it where to stay/go or what you can expect to pay etc.........
cheers to you both, have a wonderful holiday,
Ozi2
