I am glad that I am on holidays , down south at the moment, but a bit aprehensive about the cyclone. my house is right in the path, at the moment, but these things are very unpredictable. The house and the charter boat are insured, and I did what I could before leaving. Thanks to Pete and Gail at Scarborough for their hospitality. Will be keeping an eye to Yasi.

Went to that link.  It's very frightening.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all who live there.  Headn home I would just pack and leave before it's too late.  Stay safe.

They are evacuating the main hospital totally as well as a rest home. It's frightening to think just what could happen.

I am lucky, because I am 1200 miles away on Stradbroke is., but I am worried about my house and boat, both insured.I think we will get a lot of wind on Maggie is.,but hopefully it will cross north of Cardwell. Could be Larry all over. Look at the size of this thing! Its 500 klms across! The predicted storm surge is 7m! I am worried , but what could I do if I was there? I put everything away before I went to Rocky for the cleanup.Tommorrow at this time we should have a better idea.Bugga!no.gif

hi mate,   it's a big bugga alright, don't know how it will affect us here in the bundy district as yet, they are saying down as far as yeppoon will be bad but i reckon it will get windy here to. got a son in mackay and he is battoned down. the met mob are saying it will go a long way inland before becoming a rain depression, god help them up there.

Looks like I might be lucky.  Probably just get some more rain. Just praying it's not "Deadly" for those further North.

Jim and Kathy weren't quite that bad, and not in such populated areas, although Kathy went right across and did a lot of damage to Borroloola.

Cheers,
Sheba.

Was good to see not a much trouble as they thought it would be ..but in saying that the people that have lost their homes , crops and their livelyhoods would say YASI was and still is trouble ..let hope Q.L.D can have a break now

So good to hear that everyone is safe, no fatalities nor serious injury at this stage. Hope it stays that way. Have been watching TV all day. Hard to believe the devastation. The whole last month has been unbelievable with the weather right around Aus. Now Vic is to get 3 days of heavy rain and winds, they say the edge of the cyclone but surely it can't spread this far.
We still have the floods from the last one and no where for any more water to go.

Sorry to say this HW, I read a prediction of more flooding for the Murray from this next lot. As you say, dunno where it could go!

Just hoping it stays the other side of Swan Hill and doesn't flow back this way. It can back up if too much flow in the Murray then we all suffer all the way back past here.

I wouldn't mind the rain though, hoping it will break this sweltering heat and humidity. I've suffered badly today and would rather not have another one like it. Just had a bowl of steamed veges for tea as really didn't feel like eating anything else.
