Inverell bound

After baffling months of being unable to start a new topic I've suddenly found my way in again (still no idea why! confuse), so thought I'd ask if anyone's stayed in either of the two Inverell caravan parks? We're heading there on Wednesday, just to have a look around for a few days -- and to get away from the 40-to-50 km/h winds here in Uralla!

And, of course, if anyone's in the area we'd love to meet you...

Thanks --
Andrea

There's actually three parks in Inverell. I've stayed at the "Inverell Caravan Park" a few times and have no hesitation recommending it.

It's located at the junction of the road coming from Bundarra and the Gwydir Highway and is within walking distance of the CBD. I haven't stayed at either of the other two parks but I've been told by locals that they are well run parks too.

Inverell is listed by the CMCA as an RV Friendly Town.

(edit to add PS)

PS: This park is in an area that could flood if heavy rain occurs in the Macintyre catchment.  Also there's a low level bridge south of Bundarra that could flood if the Gwydir comes down.  In both cases floods subside very quickly

Thanks, Jim. I am just a little concerned about possible flooding (just viewed a video of the flash flooding in Toowoomba -- frightening!), but was told earlier today by the Information Centre at Inverell that the parks are in no danger. I wonder...?

They are on the spot so you should be able to rely on their information. Inverell has an excellent Information Centre with RV/caravan parking nearby. The road from Uralla to Inverell is very good.

(disclosure: I lived in Inverell from 1962 to 1983 and I know some of the staff at the Info Centre)

Andrea, have not stayed there but an old school friend & wife stayed there for a reasonable length of time in the Inverell caravan Park ,
They said it was a very good park, I beleive them as they owned & ran their own C/Park for seven yrs a bit further north.

We are on the Mid North Coast if you are down this way.

Thank you both - it all sounds pretty good. And it has to better then wet and windy Uralla.

We probably won't get back down the hill this time, Justcruisin; pity we didn't know where you were sooner. We spent five idyllic weeks at my cousin's place near Wauchope, but it was getting too warm and humid, especially for John; once the holidays are over we'll start heading south (floods permitting). We have to be in Perth by July, and we don't travel fast: it took us four months a couple of years ago  smile .

Thanks, Rosco; they're both excellent resources and I have checked both. Sometimes it's nice to get some feedback from the forum as well -- the photos and reports are not always up to date, and I've also known at least one to be outrageously critical of a very good park.

Also, I was so excited that I had access again that I posted the only question I could think of! biggrin
