Green Beans cooked in the coals...

Just before our recent trip I was looking at my french beans and thinking how they would be ruined by our return date.  I picked a big bag full and put them in the fridge.  As we already had a camp fire to do the veg in I thought why not the beans.  We wrapped them in two layers of  alfoil and splashed in a bit of water and buried them for about 10 Mins when the other veg were cooked.  They came out a treat still "squeaky".  Loved them.

Scouts make apple pies like that.

Grease the alfoil, make an apple turnover, wrap in the 2 layers of foil, bung in the coals and..... wallah......also share a small tin of reduced cream....great hiking food.
