you can,t go wrong with holden red engines as they are so simple-push rod in line 6 cyl All you have to do is is give them clean fuel and water, and they will do the rest....., What is the problem?

Thank you Bill12 I hope there is no problem I just do not know anything about the different types of motors, this one has been registered in nsw for six years would i need an engineers report to get it registered in vic. The s/w toyota did not come with this type of motor in the first place

The red Holden motor was the best motor in my opinion for reliability easy to repair. If i owned one now the only thing i would do is have Valve seat inserts fitted for long life with ULP as they were castiron heads with no valve seat inserts, which was fine with Leaded petrol.

If you are looking at buying this have a good hard look at what revs the motor is doing at cruising speed.
Grey & red motors were fitted to a lot of landrovers & others in the past, they reved to high at normal road speed & boiled their heads off.
Red motors were very good in their designated area; didnt work so well in a transplant situation.

Has anybody thought that this poor lady might be like me, a bit thick when it comes to motors and doesn't have a clue what you are all talking about.
I know I don't and would be getting more stressed out with each post.
Sorry Shadyandme for calling you thick but trying to help a bit here.

In that case then it might be better to wait till the mechanic comes home.

hi, if it is not the right engine and the engine mounts have been changed and welding has been down it will need to be inspected and also need a mod plate put on
also it will have to be looked at at the main roads dept in your state
hope this is the info you were looking for
regards peter

Am I right in saying you are looking at this on Ebay, as you said the Auction finishes on 8th. If so ask if you can get a RACV inspection done on it, cost around $200.
Reading all the posts here I would want to know a lot more before even considering bidding on it.
There seems to be a lot of risks involved.

Hi
I am sure I found the add in vic, $9000, no bids.
I would leave it alone because the add is misleading in saying that the vehicle is rego'ed with red 202 engine so no engineered cert needed. To my knowledge (mechanic by trade and completed lots of mods), any vehicle that has had the engine replaced by a non standard engine needs a enigineers cert, you even need a transport inspection if you change engine like for like to confirm new engine number for rego
cheers

Heres a link to another one with a pic of a mod plate, this is what the other one should have other wise the insurance and such like will be null and void.
cheers

It looks to be quite lovely inside and out, but like me when looking for van what looks good might not have good workings. Hence why i have gone for a 2007 combo van rather than a campervan with all the fitout and no knowledge of the workings.
It suits me better as I really just need something to sleep in rather than expensive motel rooms when travelling. Where you are looking for a complete living arrangment.

You might find it doesn't reach reserve and wont sell this time anyway and you can still get your mechanic to check it out.
