We have stayed at the Peak Hill Caravan Park many many times. One of those occasions was for about 10 days due to vehicle breakdown near Dubbo as it was a much better and cheaper option than staying in any of the Dubbo Caravan Parks. It is a very homely pet friendly Park with a relaxed layback feel about it. A small country Caravan Park with good clean amenities block that has heated floors in showers during winter.

Peak Hill is one of those small towns that most just drive through. However it is well worth the stopover for a few days just to veg out, though there is plenty to see in the area, particularly the open cut mine (during pub/school holiday time), Goobang NP, even a relaxing day down by the weir on the Bogan river. The Radio telescope near Parkes is about 40km away, Dubbo is only about 60km, and Wellington Caves about the same though via dirt roads.

Leighton and Pauline have built this park up targeting the Grey Nomad market. They joined a number of Forums seeking member views on what people wanted. They make you most welcome; at times going overboard to assist you if you have any problems. They structured their camp fees such that it reduces each night you stay levelling out after about three nights. Plus at around 4:00pm scones with jam and cream are brought round to your van.

Agreed the meals at the RSL are good, and butcher Dave's meat is well worth the stopover alone. We usually stock up with his meat and cryovac some for the rest of our trip, then picking up more on our homeward trip if we come back that way. Just near the butchers is a little café that make their own spring rolls whilst you wait; they just melt in your mouth. The info centre and the craft shop at the end of town as you head towards Parkes both have local homemade cakes and biscuits for sale. We prefer the ones from the craft shop.

Just happy customers of their Park, which is the only Caravan Park we deliberately patronise.
