Also hoping to pick up my van on Friday all going well.
After lots of umms and Aahs I have made a choice.

Happy new Year everyone and Milo and your dad.

Well to start off with I am compromising. I wasn't happy about the campervans that I could afford. They all had what looked like good setups inside the van but only being able to afford something in the 80s meant the age was not good and very high mileage. And no idea how long before cost of repairs.
So I have decided to get a 2007 Holden Combo and set it up myself. I know its small but that is all I need and can manage. It means I still have a normal vehicle at home but it will packed with everything I need for travel. A bed, portaloo, storage space, cooking facilities which I can use outside. I will get an awning attached to the sliding door side and a shower tent to put up at the back door which there are two of which open out the back.
It also means I can trade my car in which was a worry as not sure I would get much trying to sell it privately and also get a warranty on the van I buy and a full 12 months rego.
It has taken a lot of uncertainty of my mind and I wil lbe able to sleep better at night knowing I haven't bought a lemon.
More details and photos as th sale progresses.

Milo,I hope the new year is good for you.I'm struggling a bit and hoping that 2011 brings better news for us all.
Some of us have had major dramas to deal with, and cope the best we can.
To all GN's may 2011 be a wonderful year
Thank God for friends and family
Cheers

Touche' gunadoo. Know how you feel. the last 3 years would have to be the most traumatic of my life and don't want to go through anything remotely like it again.
A new year, a new start and some happy times would be fantastic.
Out on the road making new friends.

I hope you all have a happy and prosperous new year. I am looking for a change in my life as I am getting a bit stale at the moment, and they say a change is as good as a holiday, which I need also.I am a bit sick of pandering to tourists, after 18 years, and would like to get on the road again.Congrats , Marj.

milo, that exactly what I am gettihng, maybe I will start a new trend. The smallest and most economical campervan on the road.
I would put the bed across the back and not down the side though, I am only 5' 3" so don't need a lot of length.
Will get a canopy for the sliding door side so can sit and cook etc under that rather than out in full sun.
Mine is white and going to put some purple decal over it to personalise it.

Happywanderer congratulations sounds like a great idea will be very interested in seeing the pics of your final conversion, sounds much easier than having to hitch up and manouver all the time, hopefully we will catch up on the road somewhere along the way, I'm leaving Melbourne last week of March and heading north with no plans other than seeing where the next day takes me.

I would also like to wish everyone a very safe, happy and healthy new year and may all your dreams come true, we have no time to waste so enjoy to the max smile
