New Old Fart

G'day,

I'm an old(ish) fart travelin' solo around Oz. Been on the road in my Transit campervan for around 3 years now.

I believe strongly in the following;

Stupid and/or wrong laws should be tested to the limit, especially where they affect me on my travels and camping/parking etc.

Civil disobediance against trhe above should be encouraged.

I am growing old disgracefully - like the Ulysses boys and girls.

Growing old is mandatory - growing up is optional.

I'm 64 going on 48. Why in hell would I want to act like a 64 yo?

Hope ypu all have a great Xmas whereever you may be!

I have an old mate who reckons you are only as old as the woman(or man) you feel.I would like to be active as long as the body holds up, and further if they fit bionics in the future.I just bought myself a fishing kayak for xmas and am looking forward to paddling around the place annoying the crocs and sharks. Don,t worry about the sharks-the crocs have eaten them- don,t worry about the crocs- the stingers have killed them-don,t worry about the stingers- the sharks have eaten them..............don,t panic, Mr Mannering!

It's spelt "Mainwaring" but pronounced "Mannering" One of those quirks of the English language!  (I was a Dad's Army fan too)

Sh*t I'm a pedantic old b*****d aren't I?  winkwink (ok don't all agree!)

Jim

PS:  Welcome to the forum Eddie,

"DON,T PANIC, Mr mainwaring!", said Jonesy the butcher as he ran around in circles brandishing a 21 inch sword bayonet. "The fuzzy wuzzys don,t like the cold steel" .Isn,t it a great program!I got 10 episodes for xmas , last year.My favorite comedy.

I am 74 now but it will take another year before I can get started. It is ridiculous having to save up at my age but it is the truth.

Anyway you "juniors" all the best in your endeavors and I hope to meet up with you over the next few years.

John

Sometimes I feel 86 instead of 56, but I try to at least 'think' like I'm 46. My best friend is 48 and keeps me laughing. I reckon a good sense of humour helps keep you young.

Welcome Eddie.

Welcome from me too Bush Rat.
Behind this 60 year old face is a 35 year old brain. May they never get it together.
And I hope you all have a great Christmas wherever you are, and my all your dreams come true in 2011. Have a good one. Cheers

Why wait another year?  Get yourself the Camps Australia Wide book and free camp your way around.  I'm only a couple of years behind you and been doing this since 1997, some of the time living 'on the road'.  If you plan your trip you never need go into van parks and seldom need to use laundromats.  A tall bucket with a cheap version of Nappysan and a rubber drain plunger/cleaner will do your laundry for you while you travel.  Just do it - you will love it and never regret it.
