Hi Sheba, Rob and I brought a 12v 240v Hisense TV from the Good Guys. The first one had a fault and shorted out. We contacted the people on the warranty paper and sent them a copy of our purchase. Within 10 days we had a new set couriered to our place, we live in a small town Northwest NSW. We have had this one for quite a few months now and no probs. We were very pleased with the response from Hisense, and happy with the set, really good picture etc. $390 on special.
Cheers Val

When we bought our van there was a TCL 12v/240v TV 'included'. It worked really well for the first 6 or 7 months, then failed when we were about to leave Darwin. The local agent said we needed a new set and after many phone calls TCL agreed to replace under warranty. The next place with an agent was Broome, but it took them so long to send it that we only received the set the day before we left. This one didn't work at all, but there was no-one at the agent's office as they were all on a course in Perth, so we had many phone calls again before TCL agreed to send another new set to Geraldton. This was waiting for us a couple of weeks later as promised. This set lasted 4 months before failing again, by this time we were in Albany, but it was just before Christmas so it took 3 weeks to get another new one sent. One week later this also failed, a week later we took it to their agent in Esperance and abandoned it then went and bought a Panasonic (only 240v), depsite the TCL tv still having more than a year to go on the 3 year warranty.

In short, do NOT get a TCL, the product was not only crap but it cost us a fortune in phone calls each time trying to get it sorted out, they NEVER returned any phone calls or emails you just had to ring and ring and sometimes you got lucky and the main man would answer instead of the receptionist.

BTW, the man in the shop in Esperance where we bought the Panasonic said it may have been the fact the tv was 12v that was the problem, he reckoned that it made the set too vulnerable to any small variations in power supply.  Given we always stay in caravan parks we don't really need the 12v anyway.

Try this one Kogan 19" TV. I took a new one away last weekend for the first time. Great picture these LED TVs. Better than the Sonny Bravia at home. Have not had it long enough to comment on its reliability, but there have not been any reports on this subject on any of the forums I dabble in.

I forgot to add - if you want a 12 V power lead you will have to order it separately in some models. Check and include it in the order if necessary.

Hi Sheba,
Noticed the add was for an Orion. I bought one for my van about 25 years ago, it's a bit of a brick now, but it is still going strong, easy to tune and better than the brand spanker that my friend has. Only 240v. Had thought of getting a new 'skinny' one, to save some space, will buy Orion again, when the time comes.
