I am seeking your comments, good or bad on the caravan protection products, eg Vantec or RV Gard. Do they really work or am I better off saving my money and cleaning my van the with normal car cleaning products.
The advertising hype gives the impression that the products are the ducks guts. I'm yet to be convinced. I can buy a lot of cleaning cloths for $1000.
Brian , as Smokey said "use a soft broom" . I have used Chemtech CT18 for the last 25yrs . On trucks , my old Inter - for 15yrs & 3 new Mazda's . Never did any damage to paintwork especially th metalic paint on the Mazda's . Allthough most of the time , I spray it on & hose it of after 10/15mins . As we live on acreage & it is 500yds to front gate , via dirt rd , so most of the time it is to clean the dust off .
Metal vans are fine to be washed with car wash, but what about fibreglass? Eons ago we had a fibreglass speed boat and were advised to only use fibreglass cleaner and polish on it.

Truck washes etc work fine cleaning van, but the original question was about protecting the finish. Vantec, Vangard etc are excellent polymer coatings that do as advertised. The main benefit is for those that store vans out in the open or spend a lot of time close to the sea (Salt air). I highly recommend the exterior application, but really can't see a big benefit having the interior treated. You could probably do just as good with a can or two of scotchgard on the fabrics and a leather retorer on any leather upholstery as required. By only having the exterior of a van treated you'll also save a few dollars. Cheers, ozjohn.

I just use car shampoo with soft broom or spong, then once every 3mths give it a birthday with good old car polish, brings it up like new, as for the inside on leather seats use babby wips they work very well, on beanch tops also use babby wips then buff up with micro cloth brings it up great
